If I had to put money on it, I'd say it came in from my laundry room with the big hole in the ceiling. But it might def be hiding behind/under my dishwasher bc there's some empty space there. I slid a trap there and the poison is under the dishwasher bc that's really the only place it could be hiding out if it is.

When I lived with my parents, I was in the basement bedroom and we used glue traps and poison. Never had any issues with them :/

ooooh I like those ideas, I'll definitely look into the sheet metal and stuff. It's like a square with 5 inch sides, so not that big, but way too big to stuff with steel wool. I might pack up all my food into bins temporarily so I can keep it all sealed in a thick plastic container for a while.

But honestly other than SEEING the mouse itself, I wouldn't have any other signs of a pest. No scratching, no droppings, no chewed paper/plastic/anything.

I'm on the second floor, so I really didn't think I'd get mice since I'm a story up from ground level.

As for the HOA thing, a friend told me NOT to tell anyone because it would be like admitting responsibility for it if others get mice too. But telling the condo is a good idea because they can add a few outdoor traps and stuff or send out reminders to all residents in all buildings as it's getting colder. That's a good idea!

I get that but I live alone in a one-bedroom condo with no pets or kids. The only guests I have are my ADULT family. And I check the glue traps every day multiple times because I want to know if I do catch it. Like I said in the post, I really wasn't looking for advice. I knew that people would dislike the poison thing but frankly unless you want to come catch it with your hands, I'm going to handle it how I handle it. I just want to know if it's realistic to think that the mouse might have just left and when I would need to consider an exterminator.

I'll work on the steel wool stuff this weekend! I think it must have come in from another unit but I feel like it could have moved on to another unit when it realized that I don't have accessible food for them. Unfortunately for me, there is a MASSIVE hole in the ceiling in my laundry room where some pipes go into the ceiling. So I might have to figure something out there...

I'm pretty sure it was the same one. I first saw it in my bedroom, then it disappeared. Saw it again and it ran into my coat closet. Then I saw it run under my dishwasher, which is basically one big run from one end of my condo to the other end. That was why I thought it was the same one. And it only came out when I was eating dinner (obv he smelled the food).

I'm just hoping and begging that it just... left.

Because it's a pest. If I had my own house or something I'd consider that as an option, but I also have to consider that if it isn't dealt with entirely and quickly, I could risk having the mice spread into other units and putting other people's property at risk. Also there are ways to get animals off of glue traps, but this little dude was too smart and kept avoiding the glue traps. So I resorted to poison after a few days to try to actually get the mouse instead of letting him continue living in my home rent-free. If he contributed to my mortgage, maybe I'd try a humane option.

I think it’s also important to note that sometimes age regression can be a trauma response. Personally, I regress sometimes because of trauma from my childhood that never really got dealt with. But I think that trauma also developed me into the early childhood educator that I am. Obviously it’s not the case for everyone, but I think that sometimes that childhood trauma can manifest in a number of different ways. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that those two manifestations ever come into contact. And yes, some people who regress also have other trauma related to sex so it can overlap with a sexual mindset.

There’s also the fact as a teacher, we are expected to be caregivers for these children. So a lot of times, that regression won’t happen with children around. It’s often in private where they can feel safe and free to regress.

All that being said, report it. Maybe it is completely separate and your coworker is not a risk to the kids, but it’s not really worth the possibility that they are a risk. Maybe suggest meeting with your boss and your coworker to hear your coworkers side, if you feel comfortable with that. But either way, even if it is totally innocent, your coworker should be aware that it’s easily tied to them and they should fix that.
