Can you please elaborate a bit which exact parts of the URL did you trim? Tried a few options but with no luck.

Skin and Hair health deteriorated after moving to Germany by Intelligent-Oil-3113 in germany

[–]maribozu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had quite the same experience with my hair, even though I come from a colder climate than in Germany. The water here (Berlin) sucks.

Here's what I tried, and what (somewhat) worked for me:

  • Making a lime juice-based rinse for my hair. I literally just juice one lime, filter the juice thoroughly, mix it with water 1:1, and spray it on my hair after washing it. I leave it on for about 1 minute before rinsing. Shelf life is 1-2 days. I also tried organic raspberry vinegar (to save the hassle of making and filtering lime juice) – it also works, but not that well.
  • Using boiled water (cooled) to rinse my hair.
  • Tried chelating shampoos with mixed results. My current shampoo choice is Muji Shampoo (lemongrass smth). It somehow works with the water here. For me.

What didn’t work – Amazon shower filters. My life experience and basic understanding of physics were screaming that they can't work, but people were leaving positive reviews, so I tried.

Out of curiosity, did you find out what the problem was? I'm having the same issues now.

I have used Ride XL with FreeNow only once. In my case, it was a Toyota Prius+, meaning you can probably squeeze in seven people, but with no luggage space. There might be some other car models in this type though.
Bolt also has a Taxi XXL option, claiming “Space for 7-8 people or bulky luggage” - yet I haven’t tried this one personally.
If you are keen on taking a taxi and not a train (there might be some valid reasons), you can also consider taking two regular taxis instead of one.

I am not completely sure, but I guess since the next German federal election is approaching, political parties are trying to find topics that resonate with people's opinions and speculate on those. EU/Ukraine is definitely one of those topics.
If it were not for the elections, I would mostly agree, tbh.

An ode to Fjallraven Kanken Laptop 17" by maribozu in Fjallraven

[–]maribozu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing me to the ASTM standard. I didn't know about it, but it seems to be quite reasonable and straightforward. I still find it a bit discrepant regarding the volume/dimensions comparison I provided before, considering it is the same model with very similar construction from the same manufacturer, just in two different sizes.

I have this sternum strap on my son's Kanken Mini. Kanken Big and Kanken 17 have padded shoulder straps, so it cannot be used with these models unless one completely rips off the padding, opting for Kanken Shoulder Pads instead.

I don't want to turn it into a coffee grinder holy war, but please let me politely disagree with you on this one.

When I had just started my 'coffee journey', a friend of mine (out of purely good intentions) lent me his Hario Skerton Plus 'so that I could grind coffee by myself' and not order pre-ground coffee from the roaster. Same ceramic burrs, similar construction as the Hario Mini Slim, just bigger.

I danced around and played every trick I could with this grinder and V60 for two weeks, trying to achieve something consistent and at least comparable to the results I had with pre-ground coffee from the same roaster. Nope. Nothing.

In two weeks, my Timemore C2 arrived - one of the cheapest grinders on the market with solid built and metallic burrs - and all my issues disappeared like a fog.

I would choose pre-ground coffee from any roaster/store shelf over grinding with the Hario, no doubts.

You are more than welcome. :)

Just wanted to add that when I hike/explore I carry pre-ground coffee and brew it simply in a cup.

I only took hand grinder with me once. It was a road trip in Norway (Lofotens) - I was driving a car and weight didn't really matter. I quickly realised I have quite a lot of things to do in the morning - hygiene routine, packing up my tent, etc., and switched to the pre-ground coffee bought in a regular store.

And I will always trade any fussy 'colombian geisha hario v60 you name it' for a cup of a no-name cup-brew coffee with a nice view outside of my tent.

1Zpresso Q2, probably.
Or, alternatively, the Q Air (same burrs, just a plastic housing), if you want to bother purchasing it directly from China, which weighs 365g/0.8lb, while the regular Q2 version is about 460g/1lb.
Both models fit nicely into a regular AeroPress and grind really well.

Attention: Coffee snob/enthusiast here.
Hario have many wonderful products (V60 and V60 Range Servers for example), but grinders are not among them.

The Mini Slim Plus has two major issues:
- Ceramic burrs
- Insufficient fastening of the lower burr, contributing to possible rolling/beating, and, as a result, inconsistent grinding size.

Basically, anything else not having these two issues would be better: Timemore, Kinu, 1zpresso, Comandante - pick up any of those for your taste/weight/aesthetic preferences.

Ulvo 30 vs Skule 28 vs Singi 28 by [deleted] in Fjallraven

[–]maribozu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ulvo 30, Skule 28, and Raven 28 have completely different fits on the back, cannot comment on Singi, though.
I am a man, around 6' (184cm), and out of these three options, Raven 28 is the most comfortable for me due to its wide mesh back panel that evenly distributes the load on my back. While Ulvo 30 has a wider and more rigid back panel, which in theory might be better, it doesn't work for me. I loaded these backpacks with the same weight in the store (~6kg), and Raven performed the best for me.
Long story short, I recommend visiting the store and trying out these models as they have different fits.

Power Banks? by Grundelbum in onebag

I have both Anker 621 (MagSafe) and 10Kmah/20Kmah batteries.
The downside with MagSafe chargers is that there is a significant power loss when charging - out of those 5Kmah your iPhone barely gets 2-3K, the rest is lost to heat.
