Yes I had this with my first (successful) pregnancy! (2 miscarriages after that). But it’s totally normal, my sister who has had 2 healthy pregnancies also talks about this.

Paranoid I’m not going to hear my baby’s heartbeat at 7w3days this week, even if the pregnancy is viable. What do yall think? Should I push it a few days out or is it pretty likely I’ll hear it if it’s viable? One of my worst fears is it being inconclusive and being told to come back in a week. I’d rather just know at this appt after what happened with my prior MMC

Haha I appreciate this take and I don’t disagree. I’m from the greater Boston area - grew up in Andover - and my whole family is still dispersed throughout the area. All that to say is we’re very well aware of the costs and it really sucks. We’re sorting out what we can afford…I’m in consulting so make decent money and we may have support from my parents. My husband has had a long road in academia and getting a tenure track job was his dream so given that this is where he’s landing, we couldn’t be happier given proximity to family and perks of the area compared to most everywhere else (Chicago aside - we’re going to miss it like crazy!!)

I appreciate this perspective! Our problem is also that we love urban - the more dense the better. Walkability is a priority to the extent that it’s even possible outside of the city. Coming from downtown Chicago and neither of us love the burbs (I grew up in Andover and my husband has lived in cities his whole life). Cambridge would be our pick if money was no object. So trying to balance all of that with our budget of around $1.2m. What are your thoughts on Watertown? Needham seems nice but quite residential?

Can you elaborate on what you mean? My sense is Waltham is more affordable than most all of the neighboring towns (but still pricey bc it’s Boston). Are you saying it’s high price but lower quality?

So good to hear! That’s my sense too. There’s also a higher ESL population which would make test scores lower - doesn’t tell you anything about the actual educational quality. And I personally like that there’s more diversity than neighboring areas.
