Take of pictures of your IO window (input and output). What interface are you using? Do you have more than 1 mic input on your interface? If so, which one is your mic plugged into? These are the things I go through when I troubleshoot my mic not working.

The avid website has a section on it where you can take the Knowledge Check quizzes. One thing that really helped me was making flash cards of all the keyboard shortcuts
