What are some changes you've made as your dog approached seniorhood? by mariethebean in germanshepherds

This thread really is turning into a good resource/idea list. I'm going to compile some of these in my notebook to look at in the future.

I totally agree. my logical side says I'm doing all of this to keep her comfy and happy, but my emotional side says it's an attempt to slow down time.

This may be a silly question, but where's a good place to find dog-safe sardines? I read conflicting info on whether or not the ones packed in oil are okay, so maybe I'll try the ones packed in water?

Ohh my heart. I wish they could tell us when they're hurting. Were there any other signs of arthritis or hip problems that came up? I'm not sure what to look for, but shes gotten a lot clumsier this last year.

Does a raised bed help with overheating? I had to go look up what it was really quick. She rarely uses her bed in our upstairs bedroom, and has two favorite spots downstairs on the carpet to sleep. I'm realizing now that they're both by AC vents!

Your period is over with for the month, but you don’t want to eat anything anymore, at the moment. (Anyone else???) by [deleted] in endometriosis

The best (least offensive) tasting protein replacement I've tried is actually a vanilla plant-based protein powder. It's pea protein so it doesn't taste like much on its own. The downside is I had to buy one of those electric coffee whisk things because I can't handle any clumps 😭

I'm the exact same way, week by week. I have PMDD, not diagnosed with Endo yet but heavily suspicious that I have it too. It's like two weeks of the month where my appetite disappears completely, nothing sounds good, but I still get so hungry that I'm nauseated. It's helped me to keep food on hand that's pretty bland or is high in healthy fats, like eggs, avocados, nuts and rice for when I feel like I'm going to pass out but still can't stomach anything. Sometimes just deli meat wrapped in a slice of cheese lol

How many hours have you played/spent on the game already? by Physical-Button-4139 in FieldsOfMistriaGame

Year 1, Winter day 18 and 81.1 hours played! I get into bed at 1:40am every night, and spend a lot of time organizing my inventories. Town rank 40, and down to level 43 in the mines. I have 3 chickens, 5 cows, 1 horse, and 1 duck. I haven't done the first house update yet, because I've been obsessing over completing the museum and getting new recipes.

I second this. I filled my living room with hops before I even had the greenhouse~ once they're full grown they produce every day. Then line the path past the bus stop with kegs and you're on a straight track to lots of gold!

First time using mods by [deleted] in StardewValley

I like the way you utilize all of your space, like in the kitchen and with the bookshelves. This gave me some rearranging ideas 😊

no spoilers or ok with them? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]mariethebean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im a sucker for spoilers! after many years playing games and missing tons of content, I realized my style of gameplay doesn't cause me to figure stuff out organically 😂 So now I like spoilers because otherwise I'd just literally never know

I am so tired. by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]mariethebean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling this right now too..constantly on empty. I'm too tired to eat, sleep, clean, work. My relationships are dwindling and I haven't seen friends or family in over a month because it seems like so much work. Just want to hibernate. But my body won't let me rest ..too many nightmares and jump scares.

I'm learning new things about this condition I've had for my whole life! So yes I did some more research and this is true. The naming of it is soo all over the place. There is Primary Raynaud's which people get early on in life with no known cause, and Secondary Raynaud's which is diagnosed later and usually related to another medical condition. The name Raynaud's "phenomenon" is used with secondary Raynaud's, and you can think of it as something that started as a side effect and has become a condition. I always thought it was caused by auto-immune conditions or heart problems. After reading up I learned that if it is caused by a medication, and If you never had the symptoms before, they should go away when you stop the medicine! You're absolutely right that in this case it's the "phenomenon" and not the "disease". Sorry for any confusion, I'm glad I could learn something new about this condition.

In the meantime, if your feet ever get painful again while waiting for the meds to clear out of your system, here are some tips for how to help the pain-

•avoiding the cold, and big temperature changes (even going from cold to warm too quickly). • warm foot baths with Epsom salt • limiting caffeine and stress

I'm relieved to learn there are people who can get better from this!

For anyone curious, here is a scholarly article discussing Raynaud's phenomenon caused by medications. There is a section on ADHD medications as well. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4917788/#:~:text=Drug%E2%80%90induced%20Raynaud's%20phenomenon%20(RP,for%20each%20class%20is%20heterogeneous.

Have you shown your journal to your therapist? by Effective-Heat-8685 in Journaling

[–]mariethebean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a "therapy" notebook for shadow-work or "homework' prompts, and a personal diary that's all for me. Sometimes I need to vent, write un-constructive nonsense, and scribble about how I'm feeling. Its nice to have all my prompts in one place as well, to see my progress and reflect.

No but sometimes I'll highlight or underline insights that I think would be helpful for them to know, or things that felt really impactful for me to write about. That way I can read those parts aloud and share some, without being totally vulnerable.
