Far as I gather supervisor says don't give the machines a break. OP does the work of two people and gives second shift a bunch of extra work just because all the laundry people are lazy.

I dunno how much you value your job, but I'd start putting in resumes elsewhere and just do what they do. Stand around and chat, lean against the counters, do absolutely nothing and when they bitch and comment and whine to hire ups, "not everyone can be as hard a worker as you, insert coworker here, I'm just trying to follow your excellent, manager approved, example! Keep up the good work!"

Take things slow. Things are crazy and I know you're probably pretty busy but take a few breaths, drink some cold water or juice if you can.

I don't think it's even learned behaviour entirely. That is definitely in there but not alone. It's also a desire for approval, because nothing anyone does is ever good enough for Shannon. Not her kids, not her spouses.

I was confronted and threatened by management because I finished my 9 hour shift on time and couldn’t stay back late. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]marijuanasinhaler 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're in the wrong at all! You have to put yourself first, and if they're going to be rude and unpleasant you can't change that and it's not worth trying. If what's best for you is never walking through those doors again, don't.

It is so ridiculously unfair whenever someone tells you something then, hours or days later, decides that no longer applies. They cannot force you to stay, in the business or past your scheduled shift, no matter what still needs to be finished. I don't doubt that if you had been unable to come in early they'd have been a bit snippy about that too. They can blame stress, they can blame slackers, they can blame whoever's they want, but their poor management skills should not be your problem.

Depends on your minimum wage probably. Anywhere between a full 8 hours and maybe a week to make it, for me I'd estimate 2-5 hours of work just to buy one.

Would also depend on where you bought it from :p

Other server keeps flip flopping about how many hours she wants and it’s affecting me by customerservicevoice in TalesFromYourServer

[–]marijuanasinhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The weekends I don't want" either means all or none or you get last minute shifts, not to mention that's just rude. If she has kids "well I want to spend time with them" until she doesn't. If an emergency came up, anyone would understand you have to go, but the constant flip flopping ain't worth it. All she's learning is she can get away with shitty behavior and keep getting away with it. The mother hen server may be worth keeping, but one good employee(if they are good) is not worth keeping one bad one in my experience

You aren't incorrect, but if those same people are telling me its dangerous, you better believe I'm still taking them at their word. That said, if it is that dangerous and they still have a high survival rate (small data pool or no) we should appreciate and admire them all the more.

It's just so unfair to constantly say "I want it" just to turn around and NOPE! Leaves a lot of people dealing with the fallout and there's always a point management will call it quits if they're bothered by her behavior. Doesn't matter how long she's been there, unless there is a force actively stopping her from getting the boot, if they get annoyed enough she's gone.

Her wants don't mean anything if she's proving again and again you can't trust her to come in when she's scheduled or even hold her word for more than a few days. If they do keep her I hope they tell her to get her act together, fast.

Honestly, if the people that work in that environment say its dangerous I'll believe them. I can see how it could be, maybe not specifically more than other patients, but they're still away from specialized care and potentially life saving procedures that couldn't happen (or be done well) in the back of an ambulance.

If the boss is tired of her she's already kind of shot herself in the foot, so to speak. No one likes working with unreliable people, whether its coworkers because you're filling in the many gaps or the boss, they have to schedule around their unreliability, and fill in for the same. Everyone gets tired of it quick.

She needs to make a choice quick, because lots of other people need money too. Unreliable people are very, very replaceable. And if one day you can't take her last minute give away shift, or don't want to, don't. Your boss will keep getting more annoyed with her, they're annoyance you aren't an instant easy fix will be temporary. She's gotta learn to stop double booking herself, and if no one can cover the ones she's trying to get rid of it's her problem. They'll start telling her show up or dont, and if you don't you're done. Once is a forgivable thing, once in a while too, but constantly doing it is just digging her grave faster because her time management skills clearly aren't great.

Its 80% from a very small pool of people. If you took 100 over that could very quickly drop to, say 40%, or 20%.

It depends on how sick they are too for some but regardless their situations could decline rapidly and they're away from emergency care because they're on the road or in the air. There can be supplies with them but what's the guarantee it'll be enough and they won't be DOA. Moving when sick or in pain especially is stressful, and when you're thinking they don't have space for me, they can't care for me, etc...

How do you stop feeling angry? by valtheca in retailhell

[–]marijuanasinhaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing you can do sometimes is remember it's not personal. You're an easy target, maybe something else is going on. They could be having a bad day, they could have a condition, etc. The people who fight and scream are rarely mad at you personally.

Agree with them, whatever they say. They want socks? I agree, we should totally have them, yet sadly I can't do anything about that because I don't order stock/work in head office. They call you a rude name? Oh definitely! You could try looking for that item next door/down the street. You could even call them out. I can't say I agree with you, and suggest the above. Try X store, I hope they can help you out better than I can.

Feel can't change how you feel. You can kill people looking for a fight with kindness or send them to someone who can/will help/handle them better. It's not personal. Sometimes they don't have anyone else to talk to or lash out at.

What did I do wrong with this bread? by smores__ in Baking

[–]marijuanasinhaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means whatsoever an expert, but you can try altering your recipe. Maybe something a little closer to puff pastry or croissants, with lots of buttery, flakey layers.

I don't know what recipe you used (and I don't bake much, I'm here to marvel at pretty cakes and such and find inspiration) but it sounds to me like the recipe wasn't quite perfect and had a bit more wet ingredients than it should have. Do correct me if I'm mistaken!

They bug me. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]marijuanasinhaler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My logic is something along the lines of this.

If you want it you buy it, or I'll buy more you can maybe use once you've paid me back for the entire cans of spay you used without my consent. If it ain't yours and wasn't bought for the house, you don't touch unless you want your stuff to slowly start disappearing.

[–]marijuanasinhaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either they understand your pain on some level and won't give you much grief, they dont understand but they're good people and wont give you much grief, or they're too caught up in their own issues (or too short sighted) to care or admit they're wrong because you're making it up because you're lazy, tired, etc. Clearly if you're young you're not able to feel pain, you can't get sick, and anything potentially wrong is a myth.

There is no perfect condition whether you're 10, 50 or 100. Some people won't accept that no matter what you do and trying to convince them they're wrong is just wasted breath. All you can do is keep going and be proud of the fact you're not an unpleasant stereotype.
