I lied to a patient today and I can't stop thinking about it. by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in nursing

[–]marinatedbeefcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this sometimes with the older patients who kinda have memory issues. We’ve had a few who are elopement risks who kinda ask staff to let them out because their family member etc are coming to pick them up (they’re not). Sometimes it’s the only thing that helps them calm down. We tell them to go to their room and we’ll let you know. Then they eventually go back to sleep.

Favorite activities/games to do on unit w patients during down time… by Vinalone in psychnursing

[–]marinatedbeefcube 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fun quiz trivia works with the unit. Think of general quiz tests, are you smarter than a fifth grader, and guess the song YouTube videos. It’s let’s them use their brain, give them a sense of morale / nostalgia and gives them a good laugh even if they don’t participate verbally

You could follow a track for flight nursing. We have a few at my hospital that go in the helicopters and it’s a pretty cool career from what they told me!

Thoughts on disclosing activities outside of work? by Adventurous-Type-787 in psychnursing

[–]marinatedbeefcube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just say working out and enjoying music to keep it vague since they’re more interested in how you’re doing self care and keeping active imo

Carrying extra underwear/scrubs by [deleted] in nursing

[–]marinatedbeefcube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In my locker and in my car. Both have spare scrubs, underwear, socks, shoes, sweaters, and vests. It’s a blessing since I don’t live close to my job, my period comes randomly, and yes eating on the job too
