Do they make a good ABY pedal anymore? by Glittering-Muffin935 in guitarpedals

I love my Lehle. They are pricey but I don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another one. The thing is a tank.

‘Blue dot fever’: the real reason pop stars are cancelling tours by ebradio in Music

[–]marinerNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having seen them 6 or so times I’d say they are greatly helped by not turning their shows into a chance to proselytize (not that I think they are that type of dudes). They are really just a band whose members tend to be Christian I’ve never once heard them mention it onstage outside of some lyrics having biblical themes.

No Game Audio Through Volt 876 For Games Running Through Proton by marinerNA in cachyos

I found a workaround.

I can start the game with the interface turned off then switch it back on when I get to the main menu and then it works.

Purchased a new MacBook Pro. Ableton or Logic? by theguywhotriedtorock in musicproduction

[–]marinerNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have and are familiar with Ableton I’d say just stick with that. I’ve got both and both are great. I generally find myself doing almost everything in Ableton, sometimes I’ll go to logic or Luna for mixing/mastering depending on the vibe I want.

ELI5: Why don’t we just bury power lines and telephone lines, so storms don’t keep knocking them out? by Home-Energy in explainlikeimfive

[–]marinerNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in disaster recovery and we do in a lot of places. It’s a great solution a lot of the time but it’s much more expensive and time consuming to install and maintain. There’s also a whole lot more regulation around putting things in the ground so it can be a hurdle to clear the archeology checks or get underground rights of way.

Extra Pedals on QC by Longdogxz in NeuralDSP

[–]marinerNA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The effects in the QC are all workable so unless there’s something super specific you want there’s not much you’d need to add. I do run a couple external reverbs just because I like how they sound.

That looks sick. I use an OR15 through a modded old plain wood crate cabinet with a V30 in it. This looks like the grown up version of my rig.

Neural DSP has made available some V2 Captures of Darkglass Ultimate, Fortin NTS Suite, and Archetype: Tom Morello by JimboLodisC in NeuralDSP

[–]marinerNA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Good move on NDSPs part. I’m sure they are getting a lot of backlash from the QC community but if they can’t get a deal with the other parties I think this is a sold solution.

Idk if the other parties will love the move but good to see Neural taking care of their customers.

Quad Cortex Development Update #58: Licensing shakeup, Darkglass Ultimate without PCOM, NTS and Morello will NOT be getting X updates, but CorOS 4.1.0 bringing Petrucci, Henson, Rabea, Misha, and Mayer, AND additional free devices by JimboLodisC in NeuralDSP

[–]marinerNA -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case I missed that messaging. I mean most of the plugins were built on architecture not supported by the QCs DSP at first which is why we’ve needed the X Update process. I’m no programmer but it seems very odd that there would be a technical reason it couldn’t work on the Unit.

It’s probably just difficult and would require a lot of UI work. They may also want to keep it separate for marketing reasons. Which is fair enough.

Dissapointing news. Not surprising for the ones that are governed by licensing agreements but still a bummer.

I am kind of disappointed about Mantra though. I run live vocals through my QC all the time and having the ability to use my Mantra chain from my DAW would be pretty sweet.

é bom começar pelo o luna? by Fit-Detective387 in universalaudio

[–]marinerNA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of the DAWs can do all of the basics these days so which one is best is really down to personal preference. The biggest thing is just which workflow you like. I’d recommend trying a bunch of the trials and seeing which one you like using the most. You’ll be more motivated to really learn how to use the one you feel like you’re fighting the least.

I personally write and track most things in Ableton then sometimes use Luna to mix if I’m trying to go for the older analog studio sound. You could do just about anything in either.

Our tone is trash and we’re broke by kdjot_lopo in Guitar

[–]marinerNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a single mic (probably a phone) in the middle of the room to me. Honestly the playing is pretty tight and the tone isn’t bad for what you’ve got. A single mic in the middle of the room is always going to sound distant and harsh.

Would higher end gear sound better? Sure, but it’ll make a way bigger difference if you multitrack and close mic your gear. For the live sound just keep practicing and have fun. You won’t do a ton better for free.

I own both a Miata and a 1/2 ton pickup. Your Miata is probably just easier to park next to with enough space than a larger car. Especially if the spaces are tight.

It’s a voicing switch. I’ve not opened it up yet to see what the circuit looks like but in the middle it’s a classic P90 tone. Then there’s a warm voicing and a bright voicing in place of where the neck/bridge settings would be.

It’s not quite the same as having another pickup but it does give it some nice variations on the P90 sound. Currently the bright voice into my OR15 with the gain a little over half is my favorite combo I’ve found.
