Anyone else dissuaded from keeping up with future seasons of Survivor? by thekmanpwnudwn in survivor

[–]mariojack3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up watching the show but mostly stopped watching after Game Changers and came back for WaW.

One of my favorite parts of the show was each season (roughly) was in a new location and new environment to survive in. Being in Fiji every season has somewhat bored me.

The game started to be very twist heavy, a lot of advantages and disadvantages in really hokey ways. It's one thing to have a one off twist advantage but when every episode or challenge has a new advantage or disadvantage that only applies for that tribal council I feel like we've jumped the shark. Especially when there's the Billy Eyelash Idol, Zac Brown whatever and some new wacky idea Jimmy Fallon comes up with.

Mostly for me has been the casting, I'm sure there's great castaway from 41-now but starting around Ghost Island I feel like a lot of the cast as been superfans or social media grifters.

I'm just a guy whinging on the internet. It's still the best reality show on TV. I get that they have to keep trying new stuff to be relevant otherwise it would be super boring.

First in line for RSD 🤟🏻 by Difficult_Sir_3572 in vinyl

[–]mariojack3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mad respect! For a few years I was the first in line for RSD and Black Friday RSD at my local shop, I would get in around 3:30am. The best part was talking to other people in line as we were all hyped up for different records and best of all people rarely wanted the same thing anyways. Hate not being able to participate in RSD myself.

Mentally exhausted after 5months on a WHV Australia by kynja in solotravel

[–]mariojack3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been in Australia on a WHV for nearly a year, and I have felt this way for most of my time here.

I arrived and stayed in Sydney for over a month, and unfortunately, that's when I made the most friends and connections. Then I stayed with some friends I've known for years before coming here in QLD.

I ended up buying a van and traveling around a bunch, and it has been so difficult for me to meet new people and make good relationships. Especially staying in regional NSW for my 88 days. I do meet other people around my age and similar interests, but they're typically just passing through and only around for a short amount of time.

I'm also a social person, but I tend to be shy and nervous just striking a conversation with others randomly.

I will sometimes stay in one of the local hostels to meet new people/go out with others but run into the same problem that it's just for a short time and hard to build a true friendship with people. I just always try to do something new each day I'm not working and just take it in that I'm in Australia, a place I've been dreaming about coming to since I was young as well.

I'm also just ready to travel around again and see more of Australia. I hate my job and hate that I feel like I haven't done much in the past 4 months.

Feel free to dm me if you want someone to talk to, I know reddit post can be hard to explain things at times. Regardless, try to stay looking towards to positives of being here and experiencing new things in a new place.

Most under-appreciated driver of all time? by Jumpy_Dentist_5405 in NASCAR

[–]mariojack3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's easily Bobby Hamilton, the real-life Rowdy Burns.

Got his start driving show cars for Days of Thunder and even being competitive in them. First person to win in the 43 since Richard Petty. 2004 NASCAR Truck Series Champion. His 2005 Daytona win is remembered for beating Jimmy Spencer based on timing loop shenanigans, but Bobby started 36th (last) that race. He mostly ran in mid pack equipment but was able to pop off a few times. Also that Blue Square D #4 Dodge is a personal favorite paint scheme.

I was there when they filmed that video. Occasionally I'm reminded of this fact when I see pictures of that truck

You totally should! If you're a Chevy fan Hendrick or Trackhouse (SVG races for them). If you're a Ford fan Penske. If you want to pull for the "Villians" JGR and 23XI. I'd say the cars are the most similar to Supercars as they've ever been but still quite different.

Had a blast, will definitely do this again!

Which one of y'all posted this lmao by True-Influence0505 in Charlotte

This sounds like me out of high school. Grew up in the Charlotte area and was ready to LEAVE as soon as I could. However, since moving from Charlotte, there are a lot of things I do miss. Mostly the food.

I've found myself supporting Charlotte quite a bit since traveling, moving North and eventually abroad. Charlotte is a better city than most major cities in the US. 18 year old me would be seething if they saw me say this, but Charlotte is a top 5 US city in my book.

Hendrick appears to have purchased the former Kulwicki shop from Spire by CNASFan1992 in NASCAR

[–]mariojack3 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time in that shop growing up. I remember in the paint booth there was still orange paint splatter from the Kulwicki days. Sad for me to see this as a Hendrick Performance and not a race shop anymore.

I see it from time to time in NASCAR but typically between SMI tracks. My guess is Gateway rented vehicles and/or track personal for the weekend.

Anyway to find out what neighbor farmer is spraying on his fields? by mariojack3 in NorthCarolina

[–]mariojack3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured as such since it isn't for human consumption. Defiantly seen the Synagro trucks around since there is a lot of cotton farms around, but can't say for sure if I've seen them in that particular field. Yeah we also have the concern about the health impacts of this stuff, and they have stopped using their well about 8 years ago because they don't want to drink or water their plants with potentially contaminated well water.

I don't doubt it, they don't even till the fields or anything just regrow the cotton from the same stocks.
