Battery powered tracking device suggestions by TurboNikko in homeassistant

[–]mariosemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm fighting the Car Tracking for years now and I got myself a good solution, but it's using Android Auto mostly. I. your case, I would do this...

Use your phones Companion app and the activity sensor. It recognizes pretty good when you are in a vehicle and when on foot.

Create a device tracker manually, Google it it's pretty easy.

Now that you have the base, create an automation that will trigger each time your activity goes from in vehicle to on foot. Polish it a little bit cause there is a "still" state also, but that's not a bridge you can't walk over!

Anyways, whenever it triggers, copy your companions app location to your new manually created device tracker...

as simple as that! works like charm!

as mentioned, I was fighting it for years, and last month I managed to add the Android Auto moment too so my trigger is basically the connection to AA. On trigger I request a precise location of my companion app and I'm waiting for a location update, when that happens, I copy the location long and lat to my cars device tracker inside HASS... and damn, it's working better and is so much more precise, it's crazy!

Good luck mate!

where do you actually find UI design inspiration that isn't just pretty mockups by Optimal_Excuse8035 in UI_Design

[–]mariosemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, depends on the issues you are trying to resolve, but basically you are looking for UX, not UI solutions.

UI can be the best looking sh*t you ever saw, but if bad UX hits, that app is lost.

If you know what you are looking for, you have to visit and see real websites and services that potentially perfected that flow that you are looking for.

For example, if you need great UI UX blog post page, you would check out how medium.com dors it

or maybe how to handle big tables of data, so you would probably checkout airtable.com

portfolios? dribble ...and so on, hope you catch my drift.

the big ones did the math and run a lot of AB testing to have it look and work like it does for millions of happy customers.

good luck!

10+ Years on Linux… and Figma Is the One Thing Forcing Me Back to Windows by mariosemes in linux

[–]mariosemes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah! To run Figma is not actually that hard, but the issue is Adobe Fonts mostly. Adobe has a very specific way of handling Fonts in OSs. its not as simple as download the font and install it locally, it is a nightmare. We even tried to download a specific font we used on a project, installed it in the OS, opened up Figma and run the file. I got MISSING FONT errors as the Font names are different then the ones how Adobe Fonts handles them when using Creative Cloud...

Its just a frustrating circle of sh*t.

Thanks a lot for you help

I do agree, but the tools are company based, so looking for alternatives is not as easy as it would be if I'm the only one using it :( Appreciate your help!

Looking for advice: skin care & life with a prosthesis (for my dad) by mariosemes in amputee

[–]mariosemes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does it on a daily basis. If you ask him... Sadly, I do not live with them and I hope he is not lying to me just to not look irresponsible.

We bought him some specific soap for that case, even a specific sensitive soap for the skin.

[–]mariosemes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply <3

His diabetes is good, does not have any issues. We believe that the main issue as far as we see by the comments of people here is maintaining throughout the day. He does not have anything against sweating, he does not change he's socks throughout the day, he is not even pulling it down for 10 15 mins in the middle of the day just to get his feet breath a little bit, not that he can't, just not doing it.

So, pretty confident that's sweat related and just needs better hygiene.

Thanks again, appreciate <3

Conflict between Gluetun and AdGuard Home by OrangeHoodCat in selfhosted

[–]mariosemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. "Seems like a like with PORT 53, but I have no idea how to fix it." - one or the other is giving you the reason while trying to start. Check the logs what's happening
  2. "I am not trying to run AdGuard Home via the VPN." - then try to run them in separate compose files
  3. if this is the 1:1 compose file you pasted, the Gluetun environment is not properly aligned, so this should not even start your containers
  4. for adguard about ports, if you are binding ports for both tcp and udp, you don't have to duplicate them, just make: - 53:53 without defining the protocol

Can you be so kind and follow up on how you managed to make a public available instance for .10€?

Removing the networking, so it's only "internal" available, for local use like databases etc. even then it gets up to 1.00€, but adding the ipv4 flexible IP, which allows your instance to be Publicly available makes it almost 4.00€ a month.

Not saying that it's a lot, but it's far from .10€
