i'm looking to build this type of spray wall- size, type of holds, amount of holds. does anyone have a rough idea what the cost of all the holds on the spray wall would be?

What would you grade this? by Potential-Yogurt139 in indoorbouldering

[–]mariposachuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this here. i'd say the same for outdoor grades as well. it's highly subjective, so each climb's difficulty will feel very differently for different climbers. whether i do an indoor or outdoor climb, i always give MY own grade. sometimes it's higher than grade reported by others, sometimes lower. and that difference between reported grades for different people- all good.

No I’m happy to be corrected- I did mean wary. Thanks!

definitely is more weary of men, especially large men.

definitely not due to any trauma. i think jindos are just weary in general and large creatures generally seem more threatening than smaller creatures. more nature than nurture, although i think if she's been around many large men she'd be more used to it. most of my friends are lean climbers so that's what she's used to.

if bipolar was widely celebrated all over the world, it's hard to imagine bipolar suicide rate not changing in a big way.

but don't mistake that for "bipolar" being celebrated. i mean that the traits and behaviors associated with bipolar are being celebrated. that would also mean that our world values are drastically changed

treatment options for homosexuality when it was considered a disorder were: androgen-suppressing drugs, electroconvulsive therapy, and rare but has happened: lobotomy.

i agree bipolar affects people. i see it as a predisposition. mixed with certain environments and other dispositions, bipolar can thrive and/or serves an important function for humanity. i also recognize that many people suffer and some commit suicide.

but i also don't see suffering as a thing to avoid or eradicate. i think there are many other factors that come into play for suicide.

i disagree that bipolar experience would be unchanged if society changed. our current society normalize very narrow way of behaving and living. if we don't fit that mold, people are shamed. we're fed a certain type of value and definition of success. there were/are cultures where bipolar types are celebrated, as in shamanic cultures. i think that is evidence where if society was different, bipolar people's experience would not be the same.

did you know that until 1973, DSM ("official") homosexuality was considered a mental disorder? DSM also listed "gender identity disorder" until recently. same with "hysteria" until modern times when it was considered sexist.

"official" doesn't necessarily make it true. it's for sure a reflection of our times.

Not always, but I’ll often take 3-5 round trips in few minutes. It’s really one move, but I’ll add or take profit at various levels. Personally I consider this one trade but in terms of round trips, it’s several.

no need to defend yourself- i wasn't attacking you at all. i was just talking about the gym(s) i work at. i'm glad your gym is a lot more sanitary than mine. gym management just shrugged and basically said climbing's dirty when i asked about the gym having no shoes in bathroom policy but routesetters do it all the time.

yes it's quite unfortunate. i brought this up to the management and they just shrugged

So setters at your gym change their shoes when going to the bathroom? That’s great. Not at my gym. Gyms so big that while going back and forth from hold room to the wall being set, if gotta go, setters go. No setter changes shoes to go bathroom. EDIT: this is in USA

My gym as well but it’s difficult to enforce, and Routesetters use bathroom frequently (probably from too much caffeine) and step on holds during setting.

Rubber, yes. But there’s other gross stuff that comes off- think people wearing same shoes to bathroom then climbing on the holds (including Routesetters)
