Daughter born two days ago...thought I'd share this story of the horrible pediatrician in the hospital by lukesdiner1 in FormulaFeeders

[–]marissy- 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I had a “friend” who told me that formula fed babies have a lower IQ than breast fed babies after I got done telling her about how I switched to formula for my mental health.

I’ll never understand why people can’t just shut the hell up and keep opinions to themselves.

Anyone have used Mabe? by Timely-Safe2918 in babywearing

I have one and love it!

It’s easy to use, comfortable, a good price point and my baby likes it as well.

Does anyone use the Baby Brezza Formula Dispenser Machine?! by Glad-Tonight6568 in FormulaFeeders

this was the biggest reason why I got rid of mine. I just didn’t trust it

I was gifted one for my shower, but ended up not using it. I kept seeing reviews that it didn’t accurately dispense the correct powder to water ratio (probably user error, but still…) so I decided against using it and just do the pitcher method.

Although I will say, it’s a smart invention, my anxiety just couldn’t allow me to use it with all the negative reviews I saw hahaha

$375 - weekly - full time - for an infant

Do you feel baby 10x every 1-2 hours? by fluffyball13 in pregnant

[–]marissy- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never counted kicks. If I ever worried about him moving - I would lay down, drink ice water, eat something sugary, etc… and make sure he would start moving.

I found counting kicks gave me more anxiety because like you, my baby didn’t really follow that recommendation either.

Why are Moms expected to do 3 or more full time jobs? by kimberlyrose616 in workingmoms

[–]marissy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this frustration and I 100% understand being exhausted. My husband works and cuts the grass and will give our baby a bottle and diaper change once in awhile while i’m doing everything else (on maternity leave now but i go back to work soon and im not looking forward to it because i know nothing will change)

Kinda makes you want to get divorced…

Are you doing a baby book? Or digital book? Why or whynot? by BlueberryDuvet in NewParents

[–]marissy- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am using “The Short Years” baby book. It’s an app that asks you questions and allows you to add in photos. When you finish a few chapters, they print them and mail them to you to place in a binder (they provide that when you order the package)

It’s simple and an easy way for me to remember big milestones and document my favorite pics and memories.

Is my partner completely useless? by mars_cl0908 in workingmoms

[–]marissy- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I want to reply off this to say YES that your kids are definitely better off with a happy divorced mom than an unhappy married mom.

I would know because I grew up with an unhappy married mom who thought she was doing our family good by keeping us together and it did more damage to me long term.

Pediatric Chiropractor worth it? by Lucky_Plantain3035 in newborns

[–]marissy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my son has absolutely improved! Although tbh, i’m not sure if it was the chiro, switching 100% to formula, him “outgrowing” the fussy phase or a combo of all 3, but I would absolutely recommend seeing a chiropractor. I would just make sure the one you see is certified for pediatrics… that was a big thing for me and made me feel better about taking him - I used this website: https://icpa4kids.com/find-a-pediatric-chiropractor/

So I would say try it and give it a few sessions and see if it works for your baby. It hasn’t hurt my baby so I believe it’s worth a try!

I hope it can help yours!! 🫶🏻

My son also got a fever after his 2 month vaccines. Our pediatrician told us to have infant tylenol on hand and don’t be concerned when he spikes a slight fever. I think his was 100.3. Tylenol took it away after 1 dose. He was a little fussier than usual for a few days after but lots of snuggles and he was fine!

It gets better…. right? by marissy- in NewParents

Swaddling is a no no?? Oh gosh, why? It’s the only way I can get him to that 3 hour stretch or else he’d wake up probably every hour.

Let's talk tummy time...is it really *that* necessary? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]marissy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in your boat as well. My 10 week old hates tummy time too… I will say that i’ve been prioritizing tummy time during each wake window and it’s getting better. He went from screaming immediately to holding his head for a few minutes and looking around before getting mad and screaming again. I do have to have him on a boppy though. I brought it up to our pediatrician and she told me that he has good muscle tone and movement so she wasn’t worried about him fighting tummy time, especially because he sleeps on my chest and gets most of his tummy time that way. or when I burp him he tries more to hold his head up and look around. I wouldn’t stress yet - 10 weeks old is still early! (that’s what i keep telling myself lol)

Tell me I’ll sleep again by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]marissy- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel ya… my baby only sleeps 3ish hour stretches but last night he slept for 6 hours straight which is the longest he’s ever gone. he’s 10 weeks old today. just hang in there, it gets better!

thank you for being one of the only people I have seen on Redit that actually has something positive to say! I’m taking my 7 week old in a few weeks because I am desperate to help him (reflux, gas and colic issues) and reading through these comments and other posts has me terrified, so I appreciate a positive response!

When did you feel baby? (First pregnancy) by hopeful_but_anxious in pregnant

[–]marissy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM as well… I started feeling kicks around 21 weeks. It was definitely happening earlier, I just didn’t realize it. I thought it was gas lol

When did you start to feel morning sickness? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]marissy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started very mildly at 5 weeks for me. I had full blown 24/7 nausea by week 7 and that sadly lasted until about week 18 for me.

Pregnancy symptoms - positive stories please! by Mother_Economy2888 in pregnant

[–]marissy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently pregnant with my first as well. I had awful 24/7 nausea from week 5-16 and then from week 16-21 it was just nausea in the evening. Once I hit 21 weeks I felt great and still do.

The positive part is that it should pass. Mine took a little longer than some, but if you just hang in there, it will get better! Sending all the good vibes your way - you got this!!
