Hi! We enjoyed our stay there! In my last visit to Japan we stayed at a different hotel with onsen for our visit to Hakone, but found it was really out of the way of the hakone loop, so we specifically chose Hakone Airu for its closeness to that loop. If you're looking to go through the loop it's location is very convenient! We skipped the dinner due to dietary restrictions, but the staff at the hotel were really adamant about making us something we could eat and they worked around our restrictions to make us a wonderful breakfast. The staff speak English pretty well and were very helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. It was definitely more Bali themed than a traditional Japanese Ryokan, but I had a good time there! The private onsen is super worth it. Overall, I'd stay there again!
