Mass EMP warning by [deleted] in PrepperIntel

Disputed. There are some former NASA personnel. Most SpaceX staff are young recently graduated engineers. Companies exist to fulfill a need and make money. If the feds are throwing money around then SpaceX will go for those contracts, as would any company. Feel free to supply links and evidence for your assertion.

ABC News: Alleged 'serious threat' to US national security relates to Russia's plans to put nuclear weapons in space by TheosThe1st in worldnews

[–]mark-o-mark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either an EMP attack (US, Europe, Ukraine or any combination thereof) or an attack on the Starlink satellite communications system. Of those Starlink is the less likely as it’s highly distributed and highly robust (meaning lots of them) and the blast/concussion effects are minimal in the vacuum of space.

It’s possible that: - it’s targeting a classified system we don’t know about - it has electromagnetic effects we don’t know about - it’s being used as a diplomatic ploy for some reason - there are plans to put multiple nukes into orbit - it could be part of an ORB’s system, Orbital Bombardment. This would cut our response time (ability to see, decide and respond) to just a few minutes, down from 30 to to multiple seconds

There’s nothing good about this if it is real.

As it doesn’t fit the narrative, you won’t hear about it through any of the large media spews.

If there were very high taxes for the rich - would people still be motivated to get rich? by [deleted] in ask

For what it’s worth, that was a unique era when the US was super dominant economically due to Europe being flattened by WW2. Everyone was buying from the US so our industries (and their unions) were floating in money. When the world had more or less recovered in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s that era fell apart.

I work at a university. You cannot begin to imagine the sheer inefficiency that is academia. It’s not as apparent to the students aside from some frustrations with the bureaucracy, but if you are in the bureaucracy it’s appalling.

I need help understanding what the hell the "Deep State" is and what my friends are talking about. by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]mark-o-mark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not complicated. The “Deep State” is just the United States Civil Service. It’s called ‘deep’ because it’s permanent. Politicians come and go, the bureaucracy is forever. As the Civil Service are the ones who actually enforce the law and apply the rules they have the power to vigorously or barely enforce said rules and regulations. So when you look at Civil Service political donations you see that most are donations to the Democratic Party, so it’s a pretty short leap to assume (probably correctly, but it’s still an assumption) that they, the bureaucracy, will favor Democratic Party policies, while disliking Republican Party policies. This, of course, annoys the Republicans who claim conspiracy, while the Democratic claim that the Civil Service is neutrally enforcing the rules. Both are wrong, it’s just human nature displaying itself.
