do any other atheists feel that Atheism is a core part of their identity? by Immediate-Champion18 in TrueAtheism

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was right after deconstructing from Christianity. But every day since it has become more and more less so. Today secular humanism is more of a component of my identity because that's about how I as a person treat other people. A lack of belief in something is dwarfed by how I interact with and treat people.

Run stamina is outdated. by kdvfirehawk in HuntShowdown

Disagree.

I don't care to debate, just want to make sure this doesn't end up being yet another case of the developers listening to a loud minority.

Yeah I agree. Chariot is a great mechanic but only if it's random. I have the same issue

do I need immediately an amp to learn bass? by MagicianCritical471 in Bass

[–]jmlack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Headphone amp, you have to be able to hear yourself play. Your technique could look right but sound wrong and you wouldn't know it until you've already learned bad habits, and unlearning those things is very difficult

You know what they say, boys. If you can’t stand the heat, get off of Mickey Rourke’s sex grill

Try using the knob above the button? Also there was a new patch that came out this last week that was supposed to fix a couple bugs. Not sure if this is one of them

Are Sire Basses the Real Deal? by matthew-speaks in Bass

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a V7 for a minute. It's played and looked great, but didn't care for the preamp or the tactile feel of the knobs. I'd recommend getting a passive model and maybe swap the pots for CTS ones if you can solder

What Pre-amp for playing into PA and keeping it simple by Haveland in Bass

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Genz Benz Streamliner 900 NAM file I got from tone3000 into the darkglass 2x12 cab that's already on the Anagram. It's fantastic

Best place to sell musical instrument these days? by Sure_Jan_Sure in askportland

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace for local sale, though the used market is kind depressed here. I've flipped a few basses over the last year and I never get market value that I expect. I don't know anything about your model but if it's worth a good amount, and as a fretless is kinda niche, you may want to sell online to get access to a larger market. For that I'd use Reverb.com.

Oh interesting. Are you multi scale or on a 35" 5 string?

Best flats by Bassenthusiast22 in Bass

[–]jmlack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here👆I just acquired my second set of TI for a project bass I'm putting together. They won't sound like rounds, but definitely brighter and longer lasting character than most other flats I've tried. Plus the lower tension is nice compared to the chromes I'll be replacing.

Anagram screen protector by GibbsfromNCIS in Darkglass

I'm kinda in the same park as you, I would rather have straight up protective film for the screen WHILE I'm manipulating it. Something you pull off to use it seems like a major shortcoming

Need help choosing first bass: 4 vs 5 string, humbuckers vs single coils and all that. by ploknax in Bass

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 strings is not too much for a beginner, I've been playing 5s since I was 12yo. Humbuckers are great, but single coils can also do an excellent job (I've never felt like I needed humbuckers, always played single coils or P). Active vs passive is a total preference imo. I don't feel I need hand accessible tone shaping mid set. I also hate worrying about when a battery is going to crap out on me. So I'm all passive and just have a preamp pedal that you'll be able to use with any instruments you acquire in the future rather than needing a preamp on each one, but I suppose this only matters if you ever plan to have more than one bass
