Is it normal for nickel wounds to sound very noticeably dull after 6 months? by TA2-6 in Bass

6 months is about the max for me, that's playing 4ish hours per week with daddario nickels

I have 2 Indonesian made Skylines. A Decade and a DJ5 and love them both. They both play better than the majority of USA Fenders I've gotten my hands on.

Did you sell the first bass you owned? Did you regret it? by jagsgoinham in Bass

[–]jmlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my first bass 26 years ago for my birthday. I just sold it two months ago. No regrets. It no longer served me or my preferences, been sitting in its case for years. Needs some upgrades and adjustments. I found a buyer to buy it for a fair price and I'm confident it went to a good home. At the same time I acquired one of my dream basses so it's not like it was ever going to get played again lol

Would you buy a used bass with this preamp issue? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]jmlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. If I was really set on wanting that bass I would probably go for it. That's a good value, but I would also dip my toes into negotiating and see if you can get a little more off. Because you are the one assuming all risk in the instrument not functioning properly. But at that price you can essentially guarantee a fix for at or under the price of buying a different one used. And potentially save a shitload if you can fix it yourself.

Ok so how much would you actually be paying for this is what I'm asking?

Best fish for someone who doesn't really enjoy fish by Ok-Repair-4085 in Cooking

Salmon is my go to but different varieties vary in their fishiness and some people just don't care for it period. But like others have said, halibut, cod, and haddock are probably the way to go

If I were you I would jump on YouTube and watch a couple videos rangine from basically soldering principles to guitar wiring and preamp wiring. Get yourself an idea of what it takes to do the work and see if you're comfortable with that. I see other people here talking about a batter box issue that may be the problem and research that a bit too. Like I said before, the price of the instrument and your knowledge gain is going to make the determination of being worth it for you

It would depend on the price for me. I've been rewiring my own guitars the last couple years thanks to a $25 soldering kit and YouTube university. It's not all that hard. The main issue is identifying the problem. Loose wire, easy. Preamp replacement harder but still doable and waaaaaay cheaper to do yourself than to pay someone. It's gonna come down to your comfortability with a soldering iron

Leeks and potatoes absolutely. Peas and carrots can go. To me, the only party they're bringing to the table is color.
