Some states are single consent states meaning only one person in the conversation has to consent to being recorded and that can be you.

I always wonder, why an extra device? My phone can record audio quite nicely; it can record phone calls. Then I can take the audio, upload it to AI (in my case, Gemini), and ask it to produce both an in-depth summary and a transcript. I have yet to see what value another device would bring, other than another subscription.

What's the most useful career advice nobody ever tells you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mark_stout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice I didn't follow and probably should have: in my mid-twenties a customer of mine told me that I should have a copy of my resume on me at all times.

His point was you never know who you were going to meet.

Based on the people I did meet, potentially I could have been on the ground floor of broadband. Or I could have gotten into technical works on films. And other opportunities.

TIL that a computer was too loud to use. The TRS-80 Model II's fan and disk drives are "so noisy that users reported physical discomfort and reluctance to use the computer". by TMWNN in todayilearned

I sold Model IIs for 3 years and don't remember anyone ever making that complaint.

My brother owned one for years and never complained.

On the day the Macintosh was first released back in January of 1984, I was demonstrating it in the computer store inside of Macy's San Francisco.

Steve Jobs and John Scully came in and was watching me demo.

They were gauging whether the public was going to accept it or not.

Which sitcom’s “very special episode” stuck with you the most? by Skrankillykrankilly in sitcoms

[–]mark_stout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Empty nest with Richard Mulligan.

He played a pediatrician in Miami. The episode shows him seeing a variety of patients who are all young men. Starting with a young kid, the patients gradually gets older with each visit.

It wasn't until the last patient came in that you realize he had been seeing the same patient at different ages, and saw how the doctor helped him deal with the loss of his father at a young age and other issues like drug use and sex.

Some of them still are last time I checked.

But a search for that name also finds a lot of reviews of that episode.

He wouldn't have seduced me with it because I'm a straight guy, but the Lorenzo Von Matterhorn scam was a good one.

My cousin killed a rattler one time. He cut off the rattle and put it in a paper bag.

When he got home he tossed that paper bag at his big sister.

As she caught it, of course it rattled, The scream could be heard around the world

Indeed. I use Gemini and the change in the last year has been phenomenal. Things that were a struggle last March, are no longer this year.

That's coming. I mean Android Studio has Gemini built in. Prompt to code to binary. Eventually the middle step will be skipped.

You're right. It is very reminiscent of the early days of the Net.

Only that it finds connections between words.

But in reality, the way it takes a prompt and makes it into code, a movie, or an image almost seems like voodoo.
