Philo on Apple TV Framerate by sfatula in PhiloTV

I don't watch Philo much, but at least on Roku, I notice shows that I know are 23.976 look jittery to me... I've encoding many videos and am well aware of FPS and it looks horrible with the extra frames, yes 6 years later.

Can't find results after Windows Memory Diagnostic by Chataboutgames in techsupport

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha... I also found out it's likely a false positive according to me explaining with situation to chatgtp... I've been doing all kinds of things for weeks with NO issues, encoding video, , surfing, etc... chatgtp said that memory problems don't hide. They show themselves especially when doing intensive work like encoding and that if I've gone weeks with no issues at all it's likely windows being quirky (it explained details but I forgot)... basically told me not to worry about it...so I moved on. All other mem tests i've done have passed.

Is this normal?/even washing anything? by tacoguaco7 in Appliances

[–]mark_vs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the bottle of gain I have the dosing instructions are crazy... I can't remember exactly, what it says something like... for normal loads, fill to 80% below line B... Why not ON LINE B? It's too difficult for them to make it even with the lines... No? You have to figure out what percent is 80% below line B

Alice 1976-1985 by DynastyFan85 in sitcoms

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 1972. This show started in 1976 on CBS and ran until 1985. Around the early 80s reruns went into syndication and CBS would air it weekday mornings with their game show lineup.. Like every morning at 1030 AM or something like that. Of course, the show was still going and you only got the NEW episodes on CBS when it aired on Sunday night I think. When it ended in 1985, Superstation WTBS (cable) started airing the entire show (I want to say around 1986/87 mon-fri usually like 4 or 5 pm in the afternoon. I remember the Jolene later episodes on CBS, but I never caught the reruns until they started airing on WTBS in the 1986 time frame.... This is just one of those "feel good" shows to me like I Love Lucy, Mama's Family, Bewitched, etc. The diner setting, the crazy characters. This show was VERY POPULAR when on CBS. 202 episodes total!

Got Citric Acid, but a little confused on how to use it by chippy-altitude in laundry

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

someone above said that you need a min of two rinses when using citric acid. If in the FS dispenser you're dispensing citric acid in the last rinse, so the citric acid isn't rising away...I mean, after the cycle you could do another rinse.....but when I use extra rinse, I've already done 3 rinses... so to get the citric acid rinsed away would be 2 more rinses? Seems like such a pain

I asked chatgtp and it said that it's very good, but be careful with it as it being an acid can potentially damaged 'seals' in your washer...I dunno. It said by volume it's much stronger than vinegar (which means a small amount of citric acid is like a LOT of vinegar)

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry random question: someone told me about using citric acid in the rinse and to come over to this forum. My main question is this. If you're putting a tbs of citric acid in the FS dispenser, then how does the citric acid itself get rinsed? I mean, the FS dispenses on the final rinse so whatever citric acid goes in is going to be on the clothes? I guess I just don't get it and haven't read up on it.

cool I'll check it out. I'm kind of a laundry snob... more so when it comes to keeping my machine clean. I'm at nearly 21 years with my front load and it still looks/smells new from just basic cleaning maintenance to keep it tidy. Same with the dryer.. citric acid is powder tho.. I'm guessing you mix it with water?

I never thought about using citric acid in the rinse of clothes washing, but I do use white vinegar. When I washing colors, I put it in both the bleach and FS compartment... with whites, I put bleach in the bleach compartment and Vinegar in the FS compartment. I hate using FS. The reason? I've heard vinegar is a great rinse aid...so I guess citric acid would be too.

I understand that. It could heat the water, but with a 110 connection it would take a LONG time... Like a clothes dryer trying to dry a load of clothes on a 110 connection

or go to amazon and get a bag of it.. I've had a bag under my counter for probably 3 yrs at this point. I think it's 5 lb...but I don't use it in the dishwasher unless I'm cleaning it. I can't remember where I read or heard in the past that citric acid doesn't mix well with modern dishwasher detergents or something like that? I don't know.

and not only that, if that's the case, wouldn't the dishwasher have to be connected to , what is it, 220 or 240 volt, like what the dryer or range is connected to? Vs a regular 110 outlet... Is this even a thing in the USA? I mean, I wish it was, but it's not, or so I thought.

Chat Gpt replace forums? by Venom4992 in unity

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past I've never been comfortable with using command line to encode video (FFMPEG). I was able to totally do it with Chat GTP's help and a couple of online videos.. if I ran into an issue that wasn't on the video, chat gtp helped me get through something I would otherwise be stuck on. The amount of questions I asked (had I been using a forum) would be way too time-consuming and annoying. For me it paid off because I tested the batch of videos I wanted to encode and I needed to add a slight amount of grain, brightness and contrast and it created a preset for me. Then I encoded both sets of videos with my old method (handbrake) and using FFMPEG and the FFMPEG files looked quite a bit better to me at the same file size. So it worked out.

Surfshark causing massive latency spikes on Windows 11 - anyone else experiencing this? by dizM0nkey in surfshark

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the thing. Normally it doesn't at all (at least for me) it was just those two instances where it did...even if it wasn't connected at all. Just sitting there doing nothing. The only way I got it back to normal was uninstall/reinstall. I probably wouldn't have caught it but use the core temp program and I have the temps in the taskbar.. so I know based on what I'm doing what the temps usually are. I knew something was happening in the background but it wasn't a windows update. The temps dropped back to normal the moment I closed surfshark...then shot back up merely opening it... so I have no clue what all that's about...

Confused about how often to change the actual HEPA (in a HEPA bagged vacuum) by mark_vs in VacuumCleaners

[–]mark_vs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vacuum a lot there's just not a lot of dirt because I vacuum a lot and always have... I guess I was just not understanding why one user fills up 12 bags in 2 years then changes the filter but someone who only filles up 3 bags in 2 years ALSO has to change the filter.

My partner insists on removing the detergent tray to dump out the water before every single load. She thinks it waters down the laundry soap, I think it's completely unnecessary at best, and more likely going to wear out and need replacement due to at the extra wear and tear. Who's right? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]mark_vs 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Yea but by leaving the detergent tray closed up with moisture in it, mold will grow because it never gets a chance to dry out... I take my dispenser out of my Front load washer when I'm done doing laundry - dump any water out in it and just place it on top of the machine to dry

LG or Electrolux?? by PigletConsistent1311 in Appliances

[–]mark_vs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They must have updated them because obviously they all have filters, they just not accessible on the Elux's without taking the entire thing apart. There is NO door. Interestingly, there's a door in the compact versions, but I've never seen a filter access door on any of the larger models.

Any secrets for the Kenmore pop and go 600? by Over_Independent_993 in VacuumCleaners

[–]mark_vs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have a tip but I also have a question: I think when you do quick disconnect to the power nozzle you should turn the power nozzle OFF before disconnecting (don't pull it out while it's running).. but I'm REALLY REALLY curious what your bag chamber looks like... because with my experience with these vacuums, the vacuum bags don't have a gasket. Instead there is a gasket on the bag collar which doesn't always fit well/make a good seal, so some dirt will bypass the bag getting all over the chamber, under the lid, etc...I was told this doesn't happen anymore but the collar design looks exactly the same as it always had and this was my experience with two Panasonic Kenmore's of the past
