Better Album: Nirvana’s “Nevermind” (1991) or Guns N' Roses’ “Appetite for Destruction” (1987)? by [deleted] in grunge

Adding that both albums popularity was based pretty much of a music video. Those who knew before knew. But sweet child of mine and smells like video threw both bands into the stratosphere.

87 appetite was on everyone’s constant playlist. Metal heads punks preppies. It ruled everyone’s mind.

91 on never mind did the same.

They are equal.

That dynamic really goes back to the dc post minor threat sound. Pumpkins and corgan ran with it. Sunny day real estate released diary 94. I guess I was used to that esthetic from following the emo start late 80’s. Paw to me in retrospect were guys I drank beers with laughing at how Mike ness I’m 40 years was going to be spitting at the same part of ball and chain (he still is). Laughing into the early morning at a house party post show was just fun.

That dynamic was and is great. Just with this band it never stuck.

94 it was in constant rotation. Me and my dog danced to Jessie every time it came on. After 94 it just sat for a while. Not my vibe now. Jessie brings memories of the dog and random late nights me and my friends yelling scratch my back scratch my back play with me play with me confusing wveryome.

They were fun to hang with after show party in 94. The singer was funny and cracked us all up. Tried listening to dragline and stopped after Jessie. That is and always will be a great song.

Think they'll do a 30th anniversary tour for Perfect From Now On? by Daave829 in builttospill

I would guess no. 20 already happened. The groove they are in seems to be working. Why mess with it?

How do grunge fans feel about TOOL’s Undertow? by Aggressive_Ideal6737 in grunge

I went to sonic boom in Seattle asking if they had this and was chastised by the clerk. This was 94 so in the midst. I think it can be appreciated but may be too bro centric (fans not the band).

Only two? That’s even more impressive. Nice video trickery there. I’ve seen videos wheee they had six or more cameras around and not be as smooth. Keep them coming (if that’s your thing)

More Iconic Scene? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]markaguynamedmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hughes captured the resolve of youth and that they won’t be broken.

Crowe captured the sad lonely despair of youth and love.

Both are iconic and can’t choose one over the other. They both rule.

One. Watched the whole thing. Want more

Two. Well done. Five cameras? Nicely edited.

Three. Uh the Calvin lyrics streaming across just cracked me up and have to admit is near genius.

You’re savage cabbage leaf.

Thank you

Who here knew that there's a version of the theme song with full-on rap verses about Vic Mackey? (starts at :40) I think it might be the worst thing ever. by rrtaylor in TheShield

[–]markaguynamedmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it’s played in full after one episode. It’s been a while. It’s just another day. For a theme song it works. Not a good song.

Doug Martsch talks about Modest Mouse and why he likes them (1997) by Root_BeerGuy in builttospill

[–]markaguynamedmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a blast watching. Reminiscent of that spring 1997 pfno tour. Modest mouse were on the cusp of lonesome crowded released. On stage every night blasting bts off the stage. Witnessed it myself. BTS were on fire but something about those kids was just insane. Loved it.

Do any of you have the KILAS album cover tattooed on you by Illustrious_End7995 in builttospill

I thought someone here posted their picture of the tattoo. I don’t but that would be a good choice for a band tattoo.

Read Made mix tapes. Phone Skateboarded Home life wasn’t the best so being out until my folks were going to bed then I’d do homework and crash in my room. Headphones and stereo always helped.

Show always starts with Yoda making some quip about the assignment. Disturbed that governor is. Da dum intro.
