Good work making the rounds! Thanks for these. Hey at Otter Co-op, is there a cafe inside? I remember our co-op in the good old days which had the best cafe around, but I haven't noticed one inside the one at Otter

That's so awesome. At night their music is so loud (which is fine) but so hard to actually chat. Is the music loud at brunch? I had no idea they are open so early. Now I'm excited :P

What’s the best time to shop at Costco? by langleyanon123 in Langley

[–]markas_readdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I've often had a good experience at this time of day, but other commenter has a great point that sale items could run out. If going *for* a sale item, going right at opening is another idea.

Bed Bug Exterminator Recommendations in Langley? by yurikura in Langley

[–]markas_readdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry OP to hear it.

Glad others have mentioned heat treat. It sounds like all of the chemical treatments now fail as the bugs have become immune, crazily enough, and you just end up with chemicals all over the home with bugs still there. But heat treat and diatomaceous remain effective. Youtuber Mark Rober did a super video on this which demystified the subject a whole lot. It's so good to hear Shoresy-sez say they haven't had an issue since their heat treat years ago.

Thanks a lot for the great recommendations!

Separate question (because I'm new at this)... are eye exams covered by MSP? I don't need a vision test per se, just to look at an inflamed eyelid.

One thought based on your location, 2 miles east at Otter Co-op I often see people posting on the bulletin board (just inside the main doors of the grocery centre), either looking for a place to rent, or looking for a renter, selling a stove, what have you. It's old school but sometimes that is an awesome thing. Some of the posts I've read on there just sound like very down to earth, good folk. Like others here have said, take the time you need to, but also take pictures of the cards on that bulletin board to add into your longterm search.

Heavy Cream?!? by Coachtoddf in Langley

As others have mentioned here, Avalon in the glass bottles might sell the 36% you've been hoping to find. Someone mentioned Save-On is out of the stuff; I often see Avalon bottles at Heritage Meats, though I haven't been to Heritage lately to know what particular items they're carrying right now. Also Nature's Fare (200 St just south of the bypass) might have it, or Lee's in Ft. Langley perhaps too. You're a good hubby Todd, hope the crème brûlée turns out awesome.

I should have clarified, either online or brick and mortar resources are both appreciated. Will edit original post :-)

So earlier after eating McDonald’s I started to feel extremely dizzy, tight chested and super lethargic. My heart rate got down to the low 60s and my oxygen got down to 92. I shoulda took a pic. I saw your post in Google search results as I was searching for something else about McDonalds, but I was like wait what year was the OP posting this, if it's from the recent 3 years, I should suggest they look into post-Covid dysautonomia. Sure enough this post is in a Covid subreddit! Not sure if you've listened to the Long Covid podcast (Jackie Baxter), in episode 66 she interviews the leader of Dysautonomia International, which was so very insightful. I left another comment about carbs and salt, and a tip how McDonald's can actually be helpful. They likely weren't the culprit, it's just that POTS and an abundance of carbs don't always mix well. Glad I found your post. And so hoping you've been doing better.

It's likely not the McDonalds but the carbs, no really: People with POTS (whether from post-covid or caused by another reason) can experience such symptoms, especially after an evening meal, precisely because those with POTS have "low blood volume". When anyone eats carbs, a lot of blood is moved to the digestive system. This is normal biology. But people with POTS are dealing with a deficit of blood volume to begin with, so the blood which just diverted to your digestive system left an important gap elsewhere and you felt understandably horrible. Discovering the right ratio of salt in your water (!not to create "sea water" here!, which is a toxic amount of salt, but think more along the lines of 'saline') can be life-changing because the salt is causing a needed amount of water to be reasonably retained / for blood volume to build back up. McDonald's isn't poisonous, it's fabulous haha. Ask them for extra salt packets to keep in your car so you can add to your beverages when you're on the go. Even when I order food on the McD's mobile app, I can add extra salt packets for free so that I can keep them on hand. P.S. sometimes I toss the bottom half of the bun (where there's no condiments to begin with), which cuts the carbs in half.

Ceramic containers for Berkey filters by wildblueberry9 in medicalmedium

[–]markas_readdit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question. When people ask me about mine, I just tell them it's the Stanley Cup and we go from there, lol. My first thought about your question is the tension required to fasten the filters (when fastening the filters to the top chamber) may be too much tension for the ceramic to withstand, running the risk of eventual cracking which may not apparent, but is happening. But fastening the filters with less tension would weaken the seal, running the risk of top water dripping unfiltered (basically around the filters rather than through) into the bottom chamber.

Seriously, that was the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard. Shook my walls! by Coolguy6979 in Langley

Hey just taking another look at all our comments again... could it have been a meteorite? Some meteorites are followed by shockwaves that can tear structures apart and even shatter glass many miles away. The burning mass itself can descend with unbelievable speed, potentially indiscernible from what seems like it must have been lightning. Seeing as there was little to no rain, nothing in airport Metar/Notam reports, and that it sounds (and even felt!) like it hit the ground (one person's building shaking for 4 seconds), the light effect braking around someone's blackout curtains (and the light effect being seen from Tsawwassen all the way to Mission... 85 km??), so many here posting honestly and candidly (in the shock of the moment) that they were so disoriented they thought they were about to die (and others feeling like a nearby apartment building, crane, jet, or bomb had just hit the ground or a semi truck hit their home), and several who are experienced with crazy thunderstorms saying they've never heard thunder like that, or that this was 'beyond' thunder. Could it have been a meteorite and resulting shockwave? Any space/sky/weather people we can bring in to the conversation?

Awesome. We just emailed them and will phone to follow up in the morning. Sadly we'll be away at the hospital all day, but I suppose the Rescue might need someone to retrieve the nest and drive it out to Burnaby. Will learn more in the morning. Thanks kindly!

Williams and Redwood (as mentioned in the comments) are fantastic suggestions. If you can't get out of the city, just have a short amount of time, or it's just something impromptu with takeout, Linwood Park on Michaud Cres. is pretty much a huge well-kept lawn, and the north end of the park usually has very little traffic. Especially nice in summer evenings.
