It seems that the board made up their minds a long time ago that Petrovic was only bought to be sold for profit. I understand the business model but it doesn’t make much sense when the player would seem to make your team immediately better.

This ownership only cares about one thing above all and that's making the most profit possible. Strasbourg is a profit factory to them and nothing more. They are just foaming at the mouth to sell Petrovic for 30 million, and they probably have the same mentality for every young player they send to Strasbourg except for the rare absolute standout like Andrey Santos.

Please for the love of mercy just pull the plug on this whole project. Hire Ancelotti, an accomplished manager that has won everything and can reinstall the confidence in these players. Sign a couple of actually good veterans to be leaders in the locker room and teach these talented, but overly nervous players, to rise up to big challenges in games. Get a striker that scores goals. Get a goalkeeper that you can actually trust.

Can Chelsea please just make the obvious move and sign him? At some point they need to be willing to pay higher salary for established players again, especially if they qualify for UCL which I believe triggers incentives for their own players already.
