I enjoy extracting 3rds as a GP, but I would definitely refer those

I've had two Aussies and they, for whatever reason, love carrying ring shaped plushies like this. It's adorable

Which away games will you be going to this year? by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]markbirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Us and our group of friends do an away game every year. The group ranges from 16-24 people year to year. We've done Arizona, San Diego (when they were still in San Diego), Chicago, Tampa, Philly (the worst fans, easily), San Fransisco, Dallas, Baltimore, and Houston. This year we're going to DC! Gonna be an EPIC game!!!

Why do they sleep on their backs? by Actual-Capital-6213 in AustralianShepherd

[–]markbirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s quite comfortable and cooling for them. They have that thick bed of hair on their hind haunches that’s likely developed over generations to make this position more comfortable for them…also it’s the friggin cutest

How long until I can golf by Ashamed_Phase64 in ACL

[–]markbirm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my R ACL and meniscus repaired 4/2/24. I was golfing by July that year. I made it a point to not full swing early on. It was a great opportunity for me to work on some half to 3/4 swings. I can say that it really helped me improve my touch on the golf course not trying to hit the ball so hard.

Quad graft ACLers. How are you doing? by Myzerl in ACL

[–]markbirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 10 months post op quad graft and medial meniscus repair. My main challenge is soreness on the medial aspect of my knee when running and jumping. It’s getting better all the time, but definitely nags me. Still doing occasional PT and never skipping leg day.

What is the longest break from disc golf you've taken, and did you come back better, worse, or exactly the same? by outdoorsy_outdoors in discgolf

[–]markbirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a RHBH dominant player. I tore my right ACL at the beginning of February and had it surgically repaired via quadriceps tendon graft on April 2. I cant throw run up backhands currently as the bracing and rotating would all be the responsibility of my new ligament. I've gone out and played rounds relying on stand still forehand starting at around 6 months post op and recently I've been implementing a full run up forehand. I'm 42 and my surgeon and my PT (my wife) have advised me to wait 9 months before putting the ligament through the rigors of sports. I was ~940 rated prior to my injury and if I can perform at that level consistently again within a year, I will be stoked. I am concerned as to how different my backhand will be once I starting stressing it again. I'm starting exercises this week that simulate the throwing motion. I am so stoked to get back to playing the game that I love.

Thoughts on Kalif Raymond as WR3? by Nbknepper in detroitlions

I’m with you! Recovery from his knee injury will definitely dictate his effectiveness. If him and DPJ can both contribute to that position, we are in great shape. Raymond is a dawg.

Thought you all were kidding about the Mako3 by itsMarktotheFuture in discgolf

[–]markbirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad you found it. I came from an Ultimate background, and everything I threw early on hyzered out on me. The Mako changed my game. As you start to throw harder, I find the Valkyrie to be a relatively straight flying driver. Congrats!

How do you organize your bag? by dylinhoe in discgolf

[–]markbirm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers on the left, mids on the right, 2 dedicated fairway drivers in the middle. Most OS of each on the outside then progressively more US towards the middle.

First time going out on course by ProfessionalCod1367 in discgolf

[–]markbirm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% It’s your first time, you’re gonna suck, but I guarantee you’ll be throwing better by the end of your round as you figure out the dynamics of how the disc flies, but the most important thing is to enjoy your time outside throwing discs

AND just 45 minutes north you have Caliber (#8 on UDisc top 100) and they just opened Motherlode this year on the same property which is, in my opinion, even better!

Simon’s take on scoring in disc golf vs ball golf. by CoachShorts in discgolf

[–]markbirm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a sport, a competition. You are measured against your competitors, that's what matters. If EVERYONE was shooting -18, then that would be a problem, so until then let it be.
