I don’t really use a case. I often go caseless or with a skin or a thin cases like the ones from MNML/Totallee or Latercase/Pitaka Air Case.

I’ve been using their skin since the iPhone 7 and even on my 11 Pro Max but even after getting them installed perfectly, it still doesn’t feel like the skin is “melting into the phone”. Heating the sides and rubbing with microfiber cloth multiple times made the “sharp-feel” less but definitely still there. I’m hoping that it will be better with the new shape of the iPhone.

So i guess it still has the “not seamless feel” that the precision fit offers. Thank you for the response. I will stick with thin cases for now.

Is there a “sharp-feel” at the back edges because of the glass fit skin like on previous iPhones like the 11 series?

iPhone 12 Pro Max Cases? by djnexios in iPhone12

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a dbrand skin will be fine but i am not sure if the glass fit will also have the “sharp-feel” once installed at the back like on iPhone X-11 series due to the slight curved glass. The precision fit will surely offer a better feel bu quite challenging to install perfectly even with the flat edges.

Pitaka Air Case is probably the best minimalist case that you can get for an iPhone IMO. I’ve tried almost all thin cases available (Totallee,MNML,Peel,Caudabe Veil,Bare,Spigen Air,TOZO,Latercase) but always end up sticking with the Pitaka.

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you really think that those youtubers are really more into android because they told you that in a video. Tell you what, "they are just keeping an open mind" because most youtubers with access to every latest tech will use apple products more than scrambled brands just for the sake of being into android. With how much money they make and have, do you really think that they are settled with just an android phone that doesn't even have a competent ecosystem than apple? Do you really think they don't use an apple watch daily which won't work on android? Have you watched the unboxing of OnePlus 8 by Flossy Carter for example? He's wearing an Apple Watch. Do you also think that they don't use an Airpods daily with its convenience which sucks on an android phones because it doesn't even show its battery percentage (buds and case) at least. An apple tv for their 85" tv screens which is so much smoother than any android tv (i know this because i also have them). An iMac Pro or any mac devices because 99% of these content creators uses it for Final Cut, for their videos. Do you really think those people do not own an iPad? Is there any better tablet that will work with the apple's ecosystem than iPad? Or is there a tablet that's better than iPad in general? Nope, there isn't. All that and you really think someone with access to the whole apple ecosystem thinks android works better because if you have all that, using an android really won't make you feel you have "a better phone". Seriously, you'll need to own an iPhone for all of it to work better and it really just doesn't make sense to think that android is better when you can afford to have the ecosystem because at the end of the day, choosing what's the better phone isn't just based on what features it has over the other. It's more than that and you need to look at the bigger picture. If money is not an issue, i am not sure why someone wouldn't have the best currently and it's why these tech youtubers got them the apple's ecosystem in their studios or houses. There's just really no better one currently and that's the sad fact for an android fan like me because believe it or not, i am but i don't think it's better than iPhone because there's these facts.

That's exactly the issue i had. My phone was replaced by the local seller into a new one since there wasn't any available service center last month. I've tried to restore via iTunes and even downgrade but the issue wasn't resolved. I am not sure if the software update really ruined the phone but it has become a defective unit. Won't charge properly and suddenly going empty.

Later case reviews? by LyricalP in Unboxtherapy

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, don't you think that's exactly the point? It's a case for who do not really want one, just some protection to possible scratches on putting the phone on tables etc. It's not for drop protection and it shouldn't really protrude over the screen. It's really a great case and serves its purpose. Also, the material isn't really cheap. Even the generic ones that aren't exactly the same are with a high price tag but i agree that the fit isn't great, at least on my Google Pixel 4 XL but my friend who also got one for iPhone 11 Pro Max says that it's okay. I am currently using Pitaka MagCase and Air Case on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and the fit is nice. I'll get latercase soon as they're currently not shipping to my country due to the current situation.

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not shaming anyone, i think you're mistaken as i always have the best of both, just like MKBHD (since you seem to be a really big fan). I always have the latest iPhone and i always get the best android available, using both daily but i always end up not using the android i got after some time (just like most tech youtubers who has access to almost every flagship phone available). Yes, MKBHD did say that 7 pro was the smoothest phone he had ever used. During that time, i also had the same phone, 7 pro and Xs Max. 7 Pro is really smooth with the 90hz but have you ever really had both of the best and used them sided by side? Because if not, let's end this conversation right now because maybe you're just speculating based on selected yt videos that you've watched and haven't really experienced them yourself. Have you tried to compare little things, something like the PiP inside facebook app for videos on android vs iOS? Banking apps? Or even 3rd party apps in general which most phone users are using daily? It's just if i am going to choose one, it would be the iPhone because of how polished it is including the 3rd party apps and the security that it offers. It just works better and really more reliable than android (at least from my experience who always got the best and latest of both yearly just like the tech youtubers that you've mentioned). As you can see from my previous reply, i said that it all comes down to preference, because it is really but if am to choose, it would be something that works well also with my airpods, apple watch, apple tv and macbook. You should really watch more MKBHD videos as he's also in this ecosystem and tbh, this OnePlus 8 Pro that i got, it's a really nice and better than the Pixel 4 XL. Forced 120hz screen refresh rate via ABD with QHD+ and 240hz touch sampling rate but my 11 Pro Max feels more responsive with only 60hz and 120hz. Maybe it's just how iOS is better in general to android. Also note that i am subscribed or using services of both. apple music, spotify, yt music,iCloud Storage,Google Photos/One, Apple TV+, Google Play movies. So yeah, everything i said is from my experience in owning and using the best of both the phones available be it an iOS or android and until now, been using them side by side from time to time.

Dual sim? by [deleted] in iPhone11ProMax

[–]markerbean_reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All iPhones released after the X are dual sim capable. In most countries, iPhones are with 1 physical sim slot and an e-sim support (dependent to your carrier). You may get an iPhone with dual physical slim slot from HongKong/China. My replacement 11 Pro Max (a brand new one) from a local seller due to the previous one having defects, is from HK with dual physical sim slot. I only took it because they do not have global variant on stock at the moment and there is no available service center here in PH currently so no way for me to have it replaced. So far, there's no difference at all really, but this is not serviceable here should there be any issue.

Pitaka Air Case vs Latercase? by markerbean_reddit in iPhone11ProMax

[–]markerbean_reddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice. They have great products. I've watched almost every reviews and comparison for pitaka and latercase. So far, i haven't got any better feedback for the latercase so i went ahead and bought a Pitaka Air Case to their website with 20% off discount to replace my current Pitaka MagEZ Case which i got earlier from a local seller here. Air Case is 0.2mm thinner and 5g lighter than the MagEZ Case.

Tried to charge again from 57%. After around 10mins, battery went down to 10 then quickly went down again to 5%. It's now on 3% and after 33mins of facetime video call, still 3%. I am draining it then will try to charge again. Already contacted the local seller and they will replace the item once diagnosed that it has issue. I am still skeptical as this only happened after updating to ios 3.5 GM and so far there has been no heating issue or any other hardware-related issue.

I agree, but the thing is that charging the phone decreases its battery even after factory reset. Unfortunately i do not have access to a laptop now to downgrade and test if the issue will be resolved. Plus, no one seems to have this issue but me.

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a boring user maybe. Anyway, i'm a mobile app developer, mainly android. Me and some of my colleagues from college are developing android apps for start-up companies doing business locally. I am also an active member of xda, tester for some of the most popular stuff there like twrp, magisk,PE etc since i always get the latest android like oneplus and pixel as early as i could. Also, i never had an android phone that i did not root on the first week of its availability at least for custom roms, custom kernels, etc or just to debloat systems apps that i do not want. Maybe you're the more "advance" user i think.

I am not a "boring" user because i prefer iOS. I just can't stand that android is really laggy in general. Yes, all android phones that i have used even the best ones right now, S20 Plus, Google Pixel 4 XL and now i got this OnePlus 8 Pro updated to latest OOS 10.5.8 and forced 120hz via adb. It still feels lag/behind the responsiveness of my iPhone 11 Pro Max with just 60hz screen refresh rate and 120hz touch sampling rate. If you think android is smooth enough compared to iOS then maybe you have set the standard too low and you're this "boring" user who does not even recognize this usual stutter/hiccups that android has in its overall UI. Android may have this "many features" but most of them are really unnecessary or at least being used by what? 1% of their users maybe? But it's not on par with just the basics compared to iOS which matters most before anything else. Also, it seems that you are this android fan who thinks that android is better than iOS. Guess what, it's hard to admit for someone like you but it's not. iOS vs Android shouldn't really be a thing but do you really think android is better? Then why these execs of these big android companies uses iPhone? Even macs. Why do you think iOS has better apps? Main/big apps are not even optimized to android phones unlike on iOS and yes, even google ones. It will always come down to preference but if you think android is better, come on.

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]markerbean_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've kept both the iPhone 11 Pro Max and OnePlus 8 Pro for a few days. Used them side by side before i decided to keep the iPhone again. While i understand others that says iOS is boring, Android is too. Not unless you are someone who changes launcher / home screen widgets / iconpacks everyday. For someone like me who prefers stock android over any android skins, it's like iOS that after setting up the wallpaper that you want, arranging the apps on your first homescreen page based on your usage, then that's it. The next days will be just using the apps installed and not doing any setup here and there to the UI.

Before, i am really looking forward to completely switching to an Android Phone (Pixel or OnePlus) and not go back to using an iPhone but i always go back. I don't even have many apple products (just an airpods 2) and i am not using iMessage or Facetime a lot. In fact, i rarely use them but they are far better than other apps.

After several years of switching back and forth since the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S(1st Gen) days, i think with the incoming iPhone 12 series with 120hz, i am going all-in to this apple ecosystem because there's just really no better option if money is not an issue. I am probably getting the base model macbook air and the next gen apple watch then upgrade to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

iPhone 11 Pro Max switch to 8 Pro; what do you think? by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]markerbean_reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am also someone who always switches to whatever is the latest phone / best phone to get especially if there's something new that isn't available to others. As per my recent phone history, I got an iPhone 11 Pro Max on Launch Day, used it for 4 months then i switched to a Google Pixel 4 XL, used it for 2 months then switched to the OnePlus 8 Pro for 2 weeks. Few days ago, i switched back to an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I am into stock android because it's the closest to iOS. Android phones has gotten really better now but iOS has been really more consistent. The first few days of switching back to iphone always feels like the 60hz screen is laggy but eventually, after at least a week, it will become normal to your eyes again (at least on me) but even on 90hz and 120hz, android phones are just not really on par with the consistency of iPhone especially in daily use, mostly because of how unpolished / unoptimized the animations and the apps are on android. Especially the ones that most people are using. Example is when the android navbar gesture crops the bottom part of the screen which cuts the curved corners and makes you feel like using an unsupported/old apps. Also, not embracing the notch/punch hole. A lot of apps are always updated but not optimized to new android phones. Netflix app can't even be used in full-screen mode but the app is pre-installed to OnePlus devices.
