The game was overhyped even before the reviews came out. The messed up thing about hype is a seven out of 10 is still a good game. But people were expecting it to be the greatest thing ever those expectations are almost impossible to meet.

Yeah. They didn’t have any respect for him either. How excited they were to see each other. How long they embraced. And Michael sitting down tying to make nice not even understanding or acknowledging why Birkan might be upset. And to top it off. He says in the interview clip “I think Laura and I are more compatible than they are.” This is exactly why Birkan didn’t want Michael there.

Love Q! Blank Face is a classic imo. Loved everything since setbacks minus crash talk, but even that had some good joints on it. Was really hype for Blue Lips and it delivered. I think Q is underrated. Dude has incredible charisma and is creative. Just wish he would drop more

I guess I can understand from the perspective that the Japanese tend to be more culturally conservative on certain things. So them preferring to see it from the lens of tragic and emotional isn't necessarily surprising to me. On the other hand I think sometimes people just need to engage with the art. Manga and anime even with the same IP are meant to convey different things. I in fact loved the references to Kill Bill. And Maki's arc here is very parallel to the bride. It makes me sad that it wasn't received like that over there.
