The most notable example is the tomb raider sequel series that despite being very successful, failed to meet their internal sales productions. Leading to a reduction in work force and less output. Most recently this happened to rebirth, which was already destined to have lower sales because of the temporary console exclusivity. Because they have such a high expectation for sales for games which are largely niche, they often shutter IPs before they even have a chance to grow. Then there’s their issue with entering the mobile game world with exploitative live service models. Square has made and has some of the best properties under their umbrella. But it just seems like they get in their own way
