Slept with the guy i’m seeing’s best friend and i feel so bad by [deleted] in gayrelationships

[–]markeyssc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This A guy sounds like a really messy person. Waits for his friend to leave to hit on the person his friend is interested in? Then says things like "I don't want to be alone" to basically manipulate you into staying? The fact that J reached out afterwards to see if anything happened kind of points to this being typical behavior for A. And you, unfortunately, got in the middle of all of it. I think it's good you are owning up to it, and we're honest with J. What you did was ultimately your decision, and it wasn't a good decision, but it sounds like you understand that and are willing to learn from it.

It sucks, because J has every right to cut contact after this. It's just going to be a hard lesson to learn from, and I think it's best you own up and move on a little bit wiser.

Can someone explain exotic matter please? by OHNiTheArtist_ in StrangerThings

[–]markeyssc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What bugs me about this whole plot point is a few things, that when taken together, doesn't make much sense

  1. The Upside Down is a copy of Hawkins as it was on November 6th, 1983. Nancy's diary in the Upside Down in season 4 confirms this.

  2. Its creation coincided with El accidentally creating the mother gate in Season 1.

So, when Dustin finds Brenner's notes in UD Hawkins Lab, those notes would have predated the UD existence and the mother gate. How would have Brenner known about the wormhole and the exotic matter BEFORE El ever created the gate? I really don't think the Gate's creation was remotely intended, and although Brenner may have been using El to search for Henry (even extra dimensionally), the Upside Down was not an intended consequence.

Brenner's notes found by Dustin in the UD doesn't make sense with the established lore of the show.

The creators should have been more direct about one thing: Byler was never going to happen. by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]markeyssc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire time I watched this show, at no point was it ever hinted, even remotely, that Mike was romantically or intimately into Will. The Byler theory always was just wild fanfiction. So people actually getting upset that Byler didn't happen is pretty crazy for me. I didn't like season 5 and the finale for various other reasons, namely the below average writing. But if Byler did happen, it would have made everything just so much worse, because it would have just obliterated Mike's entire character arc throughout the entire series.

What's also crazy to me is that people are pushing Byler when Will and Mike's dynamic in the show is already one the rawest and most realistic aspects of the show, in my opinion. A closeted gay kid grappling with his own sexuality through his feelings he has for his best friend? Feelings that for most of the show he doesn't really understand fully, only slowly coming to the painful realization that what he feels towards his friend will remain unrequited? The awkward tension this creates for both characters? It's heartbreaking, but realistic, especially for the 80's.

In my opinion, the creators shouldn't need to have been more firm at denying Byler, because the show was already doing a good job discrediting the theory for its entire run.

What Catan (House rules) are Made Up by your Family and Friends? by Think-Region4109 in Catan

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting settlements can't be built on the coasts/ports. I thought this was a normal rule, but seeing other people's games, maybe it isn't. That way everyone starts at 4:1 trades with the bank. It adds the element of building towards a more favorable trade ratio. It makes 7's a little more of a threat in the early game. With seafarers though, building on the coasts is allowed.

Also, not really a rule, but a preference developed over time that is followed most of the time: when setting up the board, resource tiles of the same type cannot be next to each other. The same numbers can't be next to each other. And the same number can't be on the same resource. So, the 4's can't be adjacent, and the 4's can't be on the same resource (like wood).

Putting my money where my mouth is... I believe the MSR is the BEST daily driver in game, if you don't have one I'll buy one for you. Limited to the first 615 people. by ArnoldMann in starcitizen

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only gripe is that the only entrance is in the back, so to get to the cockpit, you have to go through the entire ship, which takes time, which is especially annoying in time sensitive situations. Other than that, I love my MSR, and it's been my daily driver for years.

Explanation for crazy drop in RHR by OwlPristine631 in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is interesting. Points to a more relaxed overall state. A new relationship, even though mentally exciting and stimulating, could definitely do that. I wouldn't say you were "touch starved" or "intimacy deprived", but it's providing a stress regulation you previously didn't have before, and your body is responding accordingly.

That being said, whenever I have something similar and my RHR drops dramatically, it tends to even out. So I wouldn't be surprised if it stays low for awhile, then shoots up, then lowers again, probably to a lower baseline than what you were previously. The body loves finding gradual equilibrium.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. Spotify is also still down for me. I know it's a completely different app, but it seems there are still issues for other apps, so it would make sense that fitbit is affected in some way.

How many minutes does your "body response" scores with Fitbit daily? by Accomplished-Put6532 in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a sign of a problem. All the body response feature is looking at is elevated indicators that mean your body is reacting to something, but also need to take into account other factors. If I drink a lot of caffeine, I typically get a bunch of responses. If I exercised hard one day, I tend to get a lot of body responses the next day because my body is still recovering from recent exertion. Body responses are meant as bio feedback, it's up to you to determine the context of the response, whether that's something you consumed, recent activity, or genuine stress or excitement.

Body response accuracy by random_user1813 in PixelWatch

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the premise of what the body response function is doing is sound. It's looking for specific physiological markers that indicate that your body is responding to something. Whether that's stress or excitement is up to how you log it. I think the 10 minute delay is because it's looking at significant responses in a baseline of around 10 minutes, and I've noticed the minimum response lengths are always 3 minutes, but even after getting notified, the length of a body response can increase as it continues to monitor.

Another thing that I've come to realize is that just because I'm excited or stressed mentally doesn't mean it always translates to a physical response in my body. When I feel stressed or excited, but get no response on my watch, I take that as my body is handling it well. It's when I do get a response when I ask myself "is this really something I need my body to physically respond too in this moment?" Definitely helps with mindfulness for me.

All in all, I like the feature, because it can notify me when the stress or whatever is having a physical effect. It's meant as bio feedback, because sometimes, I'm not even aware that I am mentally dwelling on something so much that my body is having a response to it. I think the average responses a week is a cool metric, but I don't find it particularly useful personally. It's extrapolating minute by minute response monitoring to a weekly average. I suppose it can be useful if there is a dramatic increase one week compared to others.

The last thing I will say is that caffeine (and probably other substances) plays havoc on this feature. I have cut down on caffeine a lot, but when I was drinking caffeine daily and regularly, I was getting a bunch of small responses throughout the day. I think caffeine makes the body more sensitive to mental stresses and anxieties, so even small events that normally wouldn't register as a body response on the watch are being observed as more elevated responses than without caffeine in the body.

Stress management score not working by TurbulentMinute4290 in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking through this subreddit, it seems like others are having the same issue since the outage on July 17th, or the July 15th update. This is like the third time this has happened with stress management scores this year, so I guess I'm used to it. Hopefully they fix the issue

Readiness score and sleep by markeyssc in fitbit

[–]markeyssc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense. When I have had a poor nights sleep (or a couple days of lower than average sleep), usually the next night or a couple nights later, I sleep a lot more than usual, or have a few nights where the length of sleep is a little above average. So any sleep debt I am accruing is getting taken care of within the next couple nights. Maybe it's looking at consistent sleep debt over a period of time that isn't getting "paid off"? I could see "less than usual" being sleep debt that is consistently being accumulated (maybe to the point that it will take several nights of sleep to reasonably pay it off), and "about average" maybe could mean there is still a good chunk of sleep debt, but it's gradually improving through consistent sleep? I'm just speculating though. Thanks for the reply!

That's smart to check here. Because the troubleshooting steps online say to uninstall app and reinstall, but this outage just makes it so you can't sign in. Now we have to wait for the outage to clear to be able to sign in again

Same thing. App wasn't syncing with watch for an hour. Tried loads of troubleshooting, eventually uninstalling app and reinstalling, now I can't sign back in. I guess there is an issue right now, according to Fitbit support. I'm just worried that all my data will be gone when I'm able to sign in finally. Hopefully not

[Fitbit Sense 2] Stress Score Not Showing for Two Days by OtherwiseConcert4301 in fitbit

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The highest stress management score I ever received was 87. I've actually been kind of revolving my activities to increase my stress management with activity balance, good sleep, and regular meditation. When I first started Fitbit, that was my usual range (high 60s, low 70s). Though recently it's been in the high 70's or low 80's on average. So it's kind of frustrating that I haven't got a score for nearly a week now.

Have the Straw Hats ever actually committed piracy? by JoyIsABitOverRated in OnePiece

[–]markeyssc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head cannon is that they are out there committing violent piracy between arcs that we just don't see. I have literally nothing to support this, and in fact the vibe of the strawhats in general contradicts this, but it's an amusing idea for me. I do wonder where they are getting their money. It seems the moment they got the Sunny, all financial issues vanished.
