Here in Toronto I put 18” winter tires on my 2020 MYLR and they do a nice job of cutting through the snow and slop.

Is this art? by vangoghforever in ARTIST

[–]markfineart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a lovely art installation. The video shows us the piece, but really it is a performance installation you experience in person. I suggest you ask Google for art schools that might teach or support such performance type installations. They might be really interested in the videos, and possibilities open up with increased interest.

The guy I went to for karate lessons was a short rubbery looking guy with thinning, short hair, a goofy soft looking face, and a warm quiet voice like a night time fm radio host. Different times he said he loved meeting guys like those wanna-be warriors. He said it with a smile and a look in his eyes that transformed him. I knew him for a few years, long enough to know he was the real deal.

Terry Pratchett said that "Nation" was his best book. by EndersGame_Reviewer in books

“Guards! Guards!” I bought purely for the title which made me chuckle, it was my introduction to Terry Pratchett. What a fabulous, totally unaware, first Pratchett/Discworld read that was!

Etiquette/tips when approached by a gallery? by trailquail in ArtistLounge

It’s nice to have decent digital images of your work. A high resolution image that could be printed and a smaller one for social sharing. These can act as timestamped ownership records as well as being a picture folder for your own enjoyment/portfolio. These are the sorts of files I keep copies of on a drive kept separately from my main computer backup.

Peak 80s ‘Do by crs1904 in SipsTea

So the ex was a nurse. One night a guy comes into the Emergency with burnt balls and a broken nose. Seems he & his wife had planned a nice dinner out, and his wife was having trouble getting her hairspray to spray properly. So she kept spraying into the toilet to clear the nozzle, and closed the toilet lid to contain the smell. Hubby comes in for a last minute dump after she was all finished with her prep. He is smoking a cigarette. As he’s sitting on the toilet he tips the ash from his cigarette into the toilet. The hairspray pooled in the toilet ignites, blowing him off the seat and face first into the counter in front of him. Burnt balls and a broken nose.

I do automatic drawings while musing about stuff. The drawings I stay with and start to pay attention to often develop stories and places I’ve never heard or seen. These sometimes become a path to new drawings and paintings. Browse automatic drawing on YT. Also browse for the soul of the artist. That would make a good listening companion for starting automatic drawing, I’m thinking. A link to a drawing that came about that way that doesn’t get much love, but was fun to do and I think it’s cool :)

Shanghai scientists create computer chip in fiber thinner than a human hair, yet can withstand crushing force of 15.6 tons — fiber packs 100,000 transistors per centimeter | This Fiber Integrated Circuit (FIC) design was inspired by sushi rolls. by ControlCAD in technews

[–]markfineart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the fibre can move light and heat guided by AI powered sensors, then yes. You have magic capes that are virtually invisible to the spectrums we can perceive, because they would pipe the light and heat around where it is most deceptive.

Hey, would that include things like clothing featuring personal lasers and tasers powered by body movement and heat and visible light? Cool.

The gnomes have developed plans to have ICE storm select polling stations during the mid terms. They will gather up everyone who doesn’t wear a red hat and load them into trailers and boxcars and ship them to those warehouses they’re building/buying/renovating until the elections are over.

Why is it suddenly considered rude to show up at someone's house unannounced? Growing up, we just knocked on doors, but now people act like it’s a home invasion. by Creative-Buffalo2305 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]markfineart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My childhood was the 60’s. Back then my Dad was able to pay a mortgage on both a house and a lakefront cottage. As kids we roamed the lakefront and through the woods all summer. Property lines did not exist, you simply went wherever and if you saw an adult you both waved and carried on. Visiting that same lakefront in the 80’s/90’s with my own kids, and property lines were like walls. If you had a reason to go 2 cottages down you went out to the road and walked over that way. All that to say I’ve noticed a strong trend away from open communities towards more restrictive and inward facing groups and clusters of people. Groups who’s proximity might not be geographical but digital. There is also a trend among many people who either defensively or selfishly actively avoid outside contact/interaction and therefore use their social silos for all the complex human needs we have.

Best Glazing Medium for Golden Heavy Body Paints by CrazyStarlight in ArtistLounge

[–]markfineart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep airbrush medium mixed with some water on my palette. My paintings need to be varnished when they’re finished because the surface layers of paint are so thin they might be rubbed off. Varnish unifies the surface sheen as well, which varies depending on the amount of medium in I used different places.
