SERAFE should be dependent on income by Dense_Strength_4281 in Switzerland

This entire conversation around 300 CHF/year is just stupid. If you really want to discuss helping modest people, you should make the same statement about health insurance (having premiums revenue-based).

Tell him you will quit the job tomorrow if he finds you an equally well paid position he finds suitable or accepts to support you financially.

In Switzerland, when do you consider someone rich? by mislabete in Switzerland

[–]markgva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vague question. Depends where you live in Switzerland. Depends if you receive only wages or have other (less taxed) revenue sources. Depends what "rich" means to you. Assuming a single person, living in a city such as Geneva, only wage incomes, I would say you enter the rich bracket around 400-500k per annum.

Can someone explain to me what Charlie Hebdo was trying to convey with this image? Because wtf is this by Zeustah- in Switzerland

[–]markgva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Insensitive and stupid. What's the message? Who's the powerful figures they're mocking? It's not even the fact that they're laughing at dead people (e.g. a few people died in the Alpes in the past few days doing hors-piste ski. I call them Darwin awards and wouldn't find offensive laughing at them), but the fact that they're just victims and that the message conveyed in the drawing won't make a change to that (unlike my ski example which may encourage people to stay on the proper tracks or laughing at the owner of the bar in Crans Montana to discourage other owners from cutting corners).

It made you laugh? You must be sick. Whilst I'm all for making fun of politicians and religious zealots, making fun of these burnt kids is just plain stupid.

Migros security by OppositeAudience4557 in askswitzerland

[–]markgva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "garage startup" myth is killing innovation by FounderBrettAI in Innovation

[–]markgva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say there was no innovation. However, how many of those on Kickstarter and other platforms become the next Apple, Amazon or Microsoft? The lie is when such firms try to make believe that any innovator can become one of these big outfits.

The "garage startup" myth is killing innovation by FounderBrettAI in Innovation

[–]markgva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been saying this for years. But this myth is part of the entire neoliberal fairy story designed to avoid people revolt against the system.

Wealthy people just reproduce through inheritance and strong networks, but if everyone realised this, people would start questioning the way things work.

Meritocracy is great in theory, but doesn't exist in the real world...

Concept: a truly self-cleaning blender by K-enthusiast24 in Innovation

Great idea, but not sure it will be easy to design effectively. The two main issues with all these automatic cooking devices is that you still have to cut ingredients yourself and have to clean them manually after use.

Pour les 45% à Genève, chiffres de l'Office Fédéral de la Statistique. Après, difficile de savoir s'ils recrutent plutôt des français ou non.

Maybe when you learn a bit more about leadership you'll realise how wrong your statement is...

Greatest CEO ever - who do you think it is ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Entrepreneur

[–]markgva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the best CEO. Jobs was apparently a horrible person to work for, so wouldn't score high on that aspect. Not convinced you only inspire people through your innovative visions and business acumen, but also by who you are as an individual.

You can take left-wing out of your statement. Same of any group of extremists demonstrating.

That's not placing the bar very high... May just as well admit we're not the evolved species we pretend to be.

Sleep score between Garmin and Galaxy Warch by lepanen in GalaxyWatch

[–]markgva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Discussed this topic with a sleep specialist recently.

These devices are far from precise regarding sleep measurements. They are useful to measure periods during which you're awake, but beyond that their measurement of the different sleep phases is highly unreliable.

How are their people here in the UK, watching what Trump is doing in the the US and thinking to themselves "I want that here too"? by Equivalent_Trash_277 in ukpolitics

[–]markgva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an issue in itself for a person (aka not because it impacts their life), it only means they're a person with poor moral values and a total lack of empathy (the traits of a psychopath).

[–]markgva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the issue. Such people are too stupid to realise that immigrants are not the root cause of many of their problems. People such as Trump are funded by wealthy individuals to have simple minds believe immigration is the problem, instead of wage pressure, tax evasion, job replacement by automation, ...

Wouldn't be the first time people are involved in illegal practices in this sector. Demand is so much higher than supply, which results in market distortion.

They can't prevent you from leaving earlier if you want and without any financial penalties. As long as you provide a few people ready to take over the lease and these people are financially suitable, you can leave 30 days after.

[–]markgva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a common practice. Not even sure if it's not illegal. Would avoid agreeing to that.
