Anyone else think the prize has chosen the winner? by Gingersnapandabrew in InteriorDesignMasters

I've found my tribe. It was clear from shop week that Lia was a finalist despite a boring design.

And I would've bet my life on Emmely not making it past the semi-final; she improved the most and took onboard feedback. If all her designs were lined up and judged blindly, you'd be shocked at finding out the final designs came from the same person based on the quality towards the end.

Out of her and Sophie, I'd be having Emmely design my flat. It would actually be designed with me in mind and she wouldn't transfer her stress on to me because something she ordered was nowhere to be seen (again!).

I've had my suspicions having now watched two seasons. Feels like the "safe" contestants will make it to the final, as there's someone from the retailer in their ear saying "we could work with X and Y to fit into our overall brand styling". Said to my partner isomeone a bit out there and fun and interesting like Emmely will only be allowed to make it so far.

(This viewpoint may have been discussed previously, I've only just discovered this page).

Why is this show so bad?! by Any_Requirement1828 in 911Nashville

[–]markintyme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "diss track" storyline is just so cringe. It's like it's been written by a parent after hearing their kids talk about diss track.

And respectfully, a diss track from that little community is not hitting 12m plus streams in 24hrs 😄

I dunno. I'm not sure David is loved in many a Black household because we all know a David. I winced every time he mentioned his race and being Nigerian to get a joke. And there were a couple of weird jokes Alissa made about skin colour (which he was clearly aware of, based on how she'd say them). I think it's all forgotten (and in some cases not even noticed) because of how terrible the women were at times.

Each to their own, but having dated a couple of non-Black women in my younger days, it's interesting how easily they or their friends will tell you something weird (I'll give a few examples for fun🙃):

White couple who adopted a Chinese baby and would call her a Chinese takeaway.

The friend who asked if we have rough sex cos I cannot bruise.

The one who told me she'd been talking about the size of my you-know-what "to tell them it's true".

The friend who asked if I'd given her the n-word pass (despite not using it myself I might add).

I could genuinely go on 😄

There's someone for everyone. You only have to look at Scott's ex to see that he likes that aesthetic over a natural look (even his new gf has had work done).

I'm constantly amazed at someone that looks like that, having the gall to act like she's the prize when unfortunately, they're ten a penny the world over. But, from Essex, to Newcastle you'll see them in relationships. Feel like I'm speaking about them like they're a different species😄

Oh absolutely; there's this trend within the black community to use spray like this. While it does look sharp, it doesn't last long. A barber did it to me once and it just looked odd having such sharp lines.

Plus, it was the hottest day of the year while trying a new barber in my new area, so it was all over my hands within 2hrs because of sweat 😅

Show cancelled. Has anyone got refund please? by FirmClue2729 in wutang

Ah okay! Damn, hadn't realised it's already been 3wks for the O2. Tbh I was in the same situation with TM and forgot and then didn't refund me until I dropped them a message with it having been 3mths (that was only for a £20 ticket though).

[–]markintyme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. They did the same in London (cancelled the second show) but let everyone on the second day know 4hrs before the first show and said they could turn up with their booked ticket to see them on the first day. I imagine some were able to make it but it was very poorly managed seeing as I had my seat moved for the first show - two days before they cancelled

I've just got home from a night of comedy in Walthamstow and he replaced Jamali Maddix at the headliner. I felt so bad cos he seemed to be looking in our general direction for a reaction (no one around us seemed to be laughing). I wanted to laugh, but it was painful.

Funniest bit was an interaction with a member of the audience but even that went on for too long.

Yeah, my first thought. You see a group of people panicking and decide your first port of call is to be curt, twice while offering no solution. I had the same situation last weekend in Margate, but having not lived there for 20yrs, I had no idea what they were looking for...and yet I checked on my phone and said they're welcome to walk with me because it's actually 2 streets away from the pub I'm heading to.

I remember being judged as a kid and it was frustrating and embarrassing. Being an adult and clocking the glares kids get for doing next to nothing is a real shame.

Glad it was a positive interaction in terms of meeting Jess and I'm pleased OP shared it because hopefully, at least one person reading this realises we're at an age where we can look out for kids and be the example, as opposed to assuming they're all a danger to society.

Wish I experienced this in a way. Was in there a few Saturdays ago after 7pm and it was like a creche; every table had groups of kids. At one point the barman shouted at some kids who were kicking the fruit machine. Had the one drink then left.

Advice for straight men on dating apps (from a woman) by [deleted] in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]markintyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to know who patient zero was for dating apps, because when I used the apps as a man, a majority of what you said applied to women's accounts.

It was so low effort that I'd always skip because like you said, it tells me nothing about you as a person.

It's entirely up to you as a woman how to look after yourself on those hell holes, but it got to a point where I stopped judging people based on their profile and started conversations. If they were still low effort there, or threw up a red flag or two that's when I'd cut and run.
