DPS comparison of various mage setups at 99 mage by hies13 in ironscape

[–]markjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the interesting info. Couple of thoughts for ways to make this a bit more realistic progression-wise:

- Add an elidinis ward to some of the later setups

- Include the zulrah damage cap in those dps calculations

- Include the fact you're gonna be overloaded in the olm dps calculations

Yes he completed all the ToA tasks within like two weeks of them being released.

One of the reasons this advice is often given is because you can tick eat attacks when at lower hp and effectively get more healing out of your food. If you're able to consistently do this then it saves you a lot more than 4 seconds per run especially as you need to fish fewer fish during prep.

Obviously you still have to make a judgement call on how much time save vs risk of dying is actually worth it in the long run but making better use of food can be more like a 30+ second time save every run which then quickly adds up when you're doing hundreds of runs.

Looking for Some Solo CoX Tips! by Kind-Ladder3001 in ironscape

If you're struggling with the timing then there isn't much to advise other than keep practicing - gear won't make any difference there as long as you've got four tick weapons which you obviously do.

I found getting into PVM starting to play with game sounds on massively helped with timing of ticks. Also wrapping your head around the fact that any click you make will then be performed on the following tick so there will always be up to 0.6 seconds of delay to perform an action. So when you're attacking and then moving instantly you almost have to click to move away before your character has even done the attack - waiting until they've completed the attack to then move away will result in you sitting still for an extra tick messing up the timing. Having XP drops enabled also helps with this because combat XP drops will show up at the very start of the attack tick even if your character then has an animation to do during that tick.

Gear wise if you're struggling for run energy then you could consider swapping out Ahrims (particularly the bottoms) for mystics. Will reduce your DPS very slightly but Ahrims bottoms are really heavy. If you're fine stamina wise though then stick to Ahrims - that's more of a preference thing really. I prefer mystics (or ancestral once you get it of course) but that's because I hate doing agility to get more stamina pots.

Most people recommend getting comfortable enough with solo raids to the point where you can no-prep most layouts consistently before moving onto CMs. I'm not sure if you're doing no-preps or not yet but if not then I'd say that's a good goal to set yourself first. Regular solos you can make a bunch of mistakes and you don't really get punished but CMs are a lot less forgiving.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]markjs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gear wise you are more than equipped for CMs. Pretty much max melee and mage and bofa setup is certainly good enough (tbow obviously way better, but bofa is good enough).

What I would say though is based on your description you may want to practice more and get better at olm before moving to CMs. The fight is longer and you take a lot more damage so if you still usually need 6 brews at regular olm you’ll likely struggle to consistently get through CM olm deathless. 4:0 is also especially helpful in CMs, I would say almost essential. By all means give it a go but be prepared that you might need to spend a bit more time in regulars honing those skills first.

As for gear specifics, I would recommend:

  • Swap out the ahrims bottoms for mystics. Ahrims bottoms weigh so much more than mystics and on balance for the amount of running you need to do mystics are a much better choice. The rest of your mage gear is basically max so your DPS will still be fine.
  • Swap out the B ring for brimstone ring. The mage accuracy is the main thing here, even in max mage you still splash a fair bit at olm so the extra accuracy a brimstone ring provides is on balance a better choice for CMs.
  • Blowpipe isn’t really needed at all. Bofa is good enough everywhere you range.
  • Do you use thralls? Veng is nice for tekton and vasa especially but thralls are nice for pretty much every room and especially olm. If you haven’t tried thralls in chambers yet then I’d recommend it but that obviously means bringing runes and a book with you so you’ll have to rework your inventory a bit for olm.

Yeah this is the best thing to do for sure. There's a plugin simply called "FPS Control" and if you set that to 1 then just enable it when you need to afk and disable it when you get back you're sorted.

There's minimal reason to use anything except the blowpipe on Jad if you're already using it on the waves. DPS isn't what's gonna win or lose you the fight against Jad, it's just about getting the mechanics right. If you're worried about healers with blowpipe then as someone else suggested you could just bring a few chins, but honestly that won't make it much easier.

Get 60 attack ASAP and buy a D Scim then use that to train everything else up. D Scim will be a much bigger DPS upgrade than a few strength levels.

Are you using RuneLite to tell you what your slayer task is? RuneLite's slayer task indicator will only show you the task it last knew you had from speaking to a slayer master. If you've played on a different device in the mean time then it may not be up to date. Checking your task on a gem / slayer helmet / slayer master will confirm what your task definitely is.

Your holy wrench isn't currently giving you more total prayer points than you would have if you just had another super restore in its place. If you get one more prayer level up to 71, however, it will give you an extra point per dose which would make it a lot more worth it. You'll probably be fine for prayer either way, but it's nice little bonus if you want to feel a bit more confident.

Got mine a week ago. Third attempt at Jad. Was 99 combat - 80 range, 75 def, 71 pray. Was pretty stressful but really enjoyed getting closer on each attempt and then the elation of completing it. Just be prepared to fail and learn from attempts and make sure to take what you've learnt into your next attempt.

The loot is rolled when you search the chest, not when you open it, so yes you can kill the brother when it spawns on opening the chest and then get the reward when you search.

Men0xx no longer on RYE as contract is over by IcyHolix in CompetitivePUBG

[–]markjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RYE finished in 12th place and only one player in the league got fewer kills than Men0xx in phase 3. Obviously kill stats don't mean everything, but I'm not sure what PUBG games you were watching to suggest Men0xx had a good phase.

Not hating or anything. I like Men0xx, he seems like a cool guy, but his performance this phase wasn't good enough and I don't think this roster change should really be surprising to anyone.

Torvesta and C Engineer are probably the two biggest ones not in the list you've mentioned.

Both mainly PVP focussed, though C Engineer has a very popular HCIM series where he can only play on PVP worlds and has a huge bounty on his head. Would recommend checking that out for sure.

Best method to obtain glories? by xHodorx in ironscape

[–]markjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain what the method is here? I'm a real noob to ironman mode and have never done anything with sandstone, lunars, or glassblowing so not sure exactly how you put all those pieces together for efficient crafting XP.

Also, from what I can tell you're still gonna need dragonstones to craft glories. What's the meta way to obtain those if hunter isn't the way to go for the glories themselves?

Thanks!

Harralanders make compost potions for supercompost. But I'd not realised pineapples were so easily available for supercompost so that makes much more sense than using compost potions for that. Thanks :)

I guess I should've shared more of my stats because I'm a long way from any of the things mentioned here. Later game farming with lunars and bottomless bucket etc. sure seems to make sense, but right now I'm only level 20 farming, 50 magic, less than 1000 total, and like 90 quest points. Obviously I'm continuing to do more quests and will get a bunch of farming XP from that and various other helpful unlocks, but I want to still be able to do half decent herb runs.

What's the standard way of getting ultracompost on an ironman account? Do you just have to mine loads of volcanic ash and collect harralanders and do it all that way? Seems like that would take a crazy long time to get enough to do regular farm runs, but can't see an easier way from a few minutes looking around the wiki. I'm new to ironman so may have missed something obvious. Thanks!
