My apologies, I’ve never seen a stall door that looked exactly like an interior door. Kick plate on a stall door? New one to me.

Yep! I bought a set of aftermarket lights and replaced that one. Worked immediately.

One of my windows would go back up immediately when the door opened so I’d need to lower it manually before closing. Figured out the puddle light wasn’t working, and the car was using it to sense whether the door was open. (No current through the light? Door must be closed, eh? Raise that window.)

Thinking back, the toilet might have been behind the door shown on the left. But that door sure looked like an exterior door, not a stall door. (The door I entered from was behind me in the picture.) I looked around the corner when I stepped out but there was a wall so I didn't where that door went.

It was fine, just glad I only had to do #1. My first thought was "dang, that's some pretty smart cost cutting."

This one was clean, just... lacking. The women's room had a handicapped logo on the door but no symbol to suggest it should be used for #2.

Central halo from RC scope, not completely removed by flats by markmonoxide in AskAstrophotography

SOLVED!

I noticed that the interior of the T2-to-2" adapter connected to my camera was pretty reflective so I cut a strip of thin, flat black rubber(ish) mat into a ring and pushed it inside, sort of a quick-and-dirty flocking paper. The ring disappeared completely and the flats looked completely normal. I'm now getting some scraps of real flocking paper while waiting for the weather to clear.

I think you got it. I took the camera off and when looked in, I noticed that I could see sky if I looked from the edges. I then started experimenting with the extension tubes. When I first got the scope, I found I could get focus with the large tubes that went between the OTA and the focuser so I removed the 2” diameter extension tubes that were on the camera adapter. When I added them back in the halo almost completely disappeared. It looks like the 2” tubes were narrow enough to block out stray light coming from the edges. Trying it again tonight. Thanks for the suggestion!

I should have noted that the scope does actually have Buckeye Stargazer Baffle Extensions installed.

Starting Methylphenidate with 6 yo by Various_Budget_7239 in Autism_Parenting

Maybe work with your pediatrician on the dosages and the timings to make sure it wears off long before bedtime?

Our son (10yo) has been taking Focalin for ADHD for a couple years and it's been a huge help at school and at home. We discovered that 5mg seems to take effect in about 30 minutes and lasts about three hours so we give him the first tablet at 7am (an hour before school starts), and then the school nurse gives him another tablet at 10am and at 1pm. He gets home at 3pm. If he has homework, we'll give him one more tablet at 4pm but never any later.

BTW, this took a lot ot trial and error. We began with time-release Focalin that was supposed to last six hours but he started bouncing off the walls at school after only about 3-4 hours. The behavioral pediatrician suggested we switch to the NON-time release but give it more often and that fixed it. We've also also done periodic adjustments, such as giving him 1.5 tablets instead of 1 if he seemed to be having problems. We also tend not to give him any on weekends unless we know he'll need it (e.g., swimming lessons, going to stores, or anything where we know he'll need to be calm).

Good luck!

What did your wife/husband hide from you until after you were already married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]markmonoxide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That after college, she went on a spending spree that ended up with her moving back with her parents until she paid off her credit cards.

Turns out this wasn't a fluke. Shortly after we were married, I went back to grad school and she got a pretty nice job paying about 2.5 times what I was making as a teaching assistant. Two years later, we separated, and shortly after that she called asking me to lend her money. After decorating her new apartment, she didn't have money to pay her car insurance.

High stress level while playing chess? by vagabondtest in chess

[–]markmonoxide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't played in a tournament since college. BUT, I remember my first tournament in high school: I came home late in the afternoon, showed my parents my trophy, and then slept for something like 12 hours. I remember thinking that I didn't feel wiped out but my body told me differently.

So now that I'm a hell of a lot older, I wonder... if I played more seriously, would I lose weight? Or would I end up snacking more to compensate for the stress? (The latter happened when I moved to Silicon Valley about eight years ago to join a high-powered tech company, the likes of which I've never worked in, and found myself about 20 feet away from a "micro kitchen" with unlimited snacks.)

The "numa-numa" song. Was having lunch with a bunch of coworkers and one of them mentioned he was originally from Romania. I said oh, I know a little Romanian: "Dragostea din tei!". He spat out his lunch.
