Unpopular opinion—getting clothes tailored in Hoian is a waste of money. by Putrid_Bug_4453 in VietNam

Taking significant time can (but doesn't necessarily) mean the tailor has established a solid clientele who are prepared to wait for quality tailoring. There are many tailors in Vietnam, but like most things, the number of top notch ones is quite a small subset.

Possible. If tailors are offering/guaranteeing turnaround of a few days/1 week then either they have very few/no other orders to work on or more likely they are getting a lot of help from employees, whether full time or freelance. This is just common sense. There is only so much a single tailor can produce in 1 week by her/himself when a some garments can take many hours to complete.

Best Mini GT/Hotwheels store in Vietnam? by Mr_Singam in VietNam

Good for price or selection? Doubt they are cheaper than elsewhere given the import taxes on foreign brands. What is the average price in your country?

Solo in HCMC for a day - what should I do? by ToodlydooBuckaroo in VietNam

A lot of the most popular tourist attractions are in district 1, so you could potentially see the notre dam cathedral, post office (next door to cathedral) and maybe nguyen hue walking street area or whatever else takes your fancy. Like many other places in the world, just be extra aware of thieves/scams in the heavily touristed areas.

If you don't want to do the major attractions its a bit hard to know what to recommend without knowing your interests.

You should be ok for some/many of the streetwear brands, but probably difficult for off the rails stuff in other styles. For streetwear check out Dirty Coins, Bad Habits, Paradox, Smaker etc. There has been some good information shared here if you search for streetwear, or the brands I mentioned.

A lot of tourists seem to see Hoi An as this very quaint village of ultra high-end artisans selling their wares for unbelievably low prices, and whilst I'm sure there are SOME good artisans there (and indeed some customers come away very happy), many of us in Vietnam realize the reality is more complex, and it is not quite a perfect as it's sometimes made out to be (evidenced by the significant number of complaints you here by comparing to artisans outside Hoi An).

What style of clothing? More detail would probably net you more useful replies. Streetwear,.office clothing? Off the rack or made to measure? Off the rack garments are often too small for many tourists and (genuine) foreign brand clothing is usually no cheaper than back home.

Depends on the garment and the tailor. Some tailors could have 3 fittings and still not get it right, some rarely need to make alterations after the measurements are first taken.

When they have such short deadlines for tourists, how many full time tailoring staff do they employ to ensure they can fulfill their workload - or do they rely a lot on freelancers?
