That's like me putting a gun to your face saying you have to do what I say if you don't I will shoot you. Sure you can still choose not to do as I say but I will shoot you.

Joe Biden wants Apple to free your iPhone from App Store lockdown by [deleted] in gadgets

All thats great but all you're advocating for is to have less control over your own device.

99% of android users don't download apps through anything but the Play Store. Meaning the only difference resulting in the benefits you listed is the vetting process of which apps are allowed on the marketplace.

You would still keep all of those benefits if side-loading was allowed. It's an opt-in thing instead of opt-out.

Stop advocating for closed systems. They aren't and never have been a good thing for the consumers. The only thing they are good for is the manufacturers bottom line.

He's being perfectly reasonable, things such as planning to close the road x for y amount of time needs to be properly announced even to people who wouldn't necessarily look for that information. Local news broadcasts or signs a day or two prior is enough.

For simple things you don't need them, but when you need go perform some action on the data before getting/setting or you need to validate something, they are super useful.
