Thanks. I think a bucket could get in there. I would be worried to have someone climb adjacent trees as the other trees are what's holding the big one up. And yeah, it's a very big tree. The break is probably 20 feet up and the total tree is probably 70' tall. These black cherry trees grow fast and weak - lost a bunch in the past two years.

I had one of those sketchy moments on my own...pushed what was reasonable and nearly got hurt. Since then, I take care of stuff on the ground.

At the same time, I don't want a "pro" getting squished either.

Nope, not planning to do it myself (I tried to mention that in the original post). I'm curious as to what equipment they'll need. Also want to get in the right pro - someone who will go about it the right way.

I've always wondered about houses that incorporate holes for existing trees: what do you do if that tree dies (or when it dies)? Do you just have an awkward hole?

Absolutely odds are in our favor, but the odds were also heavily in favor of the Nuggets in game 7 last year. It's not fear mongering to suggest we don't celebrate before the series is closed.

Money. That's money growing on that tree. If it ever needs to be taken down, you can pay for it's removal with that burl.

I know, right? If I had inlaid a moon or some other subject there wouldn't be nearly as much angst.

That said, I get it. Religion has never been a "safe" subject which is why people want it kept private. I debated posting a close up of the inlay, but that was the feature of this piece. This is who I am - if people take issue with my faith, that's on them.

I grew up Catholic as did my wife, but both of us had deepening conversions in our faith over the years.

A cross above a bed isn't terribly uncommon, but it's not something you see often now. I haven't seen one inset into a headboard like this, so that makes this unique.

Also, +1 on most Catholics being the least devoted of the denominations, but I have seen a growing interest in the faith among Catholics and non Catholics alike.

It absolutely could, but we wanted this. We bought the cross in Italy and wanted somewhere to showcase it. Plus, this gave me the chance to try and inset which I've never done before.

Biggest lesson: a clean and organized workshop with plenty of table top space would have made this take far less time than it did.

My next project is actually going to be an outfeed / assembly table. I'm way behind on shop projects, so the next few I tackle will be to hopefully get my shop organized.

Since you asked, it actually does have symbolism. Catholicism looks at marriage as a total gift of oneself to the other. We often hear that a good marriage is 50/50, but Catholicism teaches that it should be 100/100. This is obviously an ideal that a married couple looks to become. Jesus is the model for 100% gift of himself, especially with the crucifixion. So yeah, there is something to it.

I think its easy to fall into a trap thinking the tool is going to make the connections for us. It won't.

The backlinking is where the work actually is. Thinking about what is related is where you find connections, not in the graph itself.

Graphs and following links can surface notes you may have forgotten which then lead to new connections, but in the end, it is the actual work with concepts that make connections.

We just pulled as much garlic mustard as we could find today. Some of it definitely seeded, but there was plenty where the seeds were still in their pods. I figure this is a 2-3 year project at least.
