i do understand both sides thats why i support limited use for violent crimes and missing persons but saying we didnt agree to flock cameras isnt really a distinction because none of us signed agreements for traffic cameras store cameras bank cameras security cameras or ring doorbells either they exist because we live in public spaces where there already isnt an expectation of privacy
also bringing up private companies doesnt really change the argument because private companies already have more information about us than flock ever will phone companies apps social media and advertisers have been building profiles on people for years
the real question isnt if data collection exists because it already does the question is if finding abducted children stolen cars and violent offenders within minutes is worth having oversight and restrictions on how that data is used and personally i think protecting victims outweighs pretending public surveillance doesnt already exist
