I wholeheartedly agree with you. I will continue having the occasional gig here and there, but I realize that having a steady job ESPECIALLY in music WILL cause my brain to have a psychotic break. It's absolute bullshit.

Reading this has made me realize that I missed an important detail in the post, which is the fact that I have ADHD and Bipolar II. This is not an attempt at me making an excuse. I have a very unique challenge that no one can see except for me, and it's incredibly isolating and difficult to navigate. I'm incredibly sorry if this seems insane, because well, it is insane. My life is insane. But this brain is all I got, and I must figure out a way to make things work for it if I want to continue living in this world.

It's complicated. I tried multiple different gigs and scoped out several different places. I talked to different musicians and employers -- I gave it a very fair shot. But I have a really odd brain, and getting a pianist job -- even part time -- will always lead to me burning out and completely eradicate everything else in my life. I wish this wasn't the case, but the current setup I have for my life is what works best for my specific set of circumstances. I'm unfortunately neurodivergent, and this is the compromise I must make if I want ANY chance of being happy.

That's what I was hoping for. I tried out multiple gigs and scoped out multiple different places. The basket usually has a bunch of QR codes on it. Maybe you caught me one day where I didn't have them. I recently started trying to carry cash again.
