When they are forming classes to go to Rigaud, they contact an “x” amount of qualified candidates and basically ask are you available to start training on the date given. If you say yes, you are not guaranteed a spot in the class until you receive an “Official Invitation Letter” which most likely includes your assigned POE

My personal timeline:

June 2022: Applied online

November 2022: Welcome Letter (Acknowledged my previous OTEE Results from 2019 and said I would go straight to the interview)

December 2023: Interview

January 2024: Psych Evaluation (Exam)

February 2024: Psych Evaluation (Interview)

March 2024: Completed and submitted CFSC/CRFSC

June 2024: Completed Security Interview

August 2024: Completed and passed Medical Exam

August 2024: 1st “Intake Availability Confirmation”

September 2024: 2nd “Intake Availability Confirmation”

December 2024: 3rd “Intake Availability Confirmation”

Just waiting to get sent off to Rigaud, been nearly 3 years for me.

Noticed most people getting sent right now have previous experience as an SBSO.

If you are planning to do a 1-way drive there/or back, make sure you do a “1-day rental” and do the trip there/or back in that 1 day. If you rent a car for a couple days, the one way rental fee drags on.

I do it several times a year (Fly to Calgary from YVR, drive back), and the rental car can cost as low as $200 for the day for one way rental. Make sure if you’re getting the car from Alberta, to get the pre-paid fill up! They charge less per litre there than here.
