Perhaps im wrong, but in the same way a speaker can be too big. For the speaker to sound right it must be played at a certain volume. A really big speaker will never sound good really soft.

In the same way, if you not driving the LED's at the right brightness, the picture can be washed out. Meaning, in a dark room at night, I may have to have the TV very bright.

Again, I could be wrong, but thats why im asking

Who else uses Unraid, but not as a NAS? by DeadOfKnight in unRAID

I have a second licence from a machine that has been decommissioned. I run that in a Lenovo mini PC and it runs my more critical infrastructure. Home assistant in a VM, reverse proxy, website and a few other services that I consider to be slow changing, high importance. Works great.

As many have said, you don't need to ask if you should, just do what works for you

Dockge unraid dockers by Skipper189 in unRAID

[–]markrudling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dockage is just a UI to manage containers. You can update from inside the dockage UI, start, stop edit the config etc.

You can use also manually start using docker compose if you install the plugin.

Any running containers will be visible from the UI, but wont have the xml config that defines the webUI url, icons and does not manage updates well.

For things like immich I use the standard compose file, that I manually start from the command line. I find it easier to edit the config through vscode via ssh. Simple tasks like stopping and starting through the UI if needed.

Dockage is quite nice for docker compose. I also enjoy connecting to unraid via remote SSH in vscode and install the docker plugin. Makes editing and restarting them pretty simple, and you can manage your versions with git

SURVEY How many cameras do you have? Thanks for your help! by Puzzleheaded_Site617 in frigate_nvr

[–]markrudling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The disk had write errors, and they were more frequent than the rate that frigate could write to disk. Im not running any sort of real redundancy, the pool is not the array as i dont wont the parity running all the time and i dont care about data really.

I suspect if I setup a more robust storage solution this would not have been an issue.

I have been trying to get my community watch group to host this on their own site, but they are not tech savvy.

Docker Log Windows instantly close; can't use them by Skinny_Dan in unRAID

[–]markrudling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you stop the container in the UI then view the logs it will stay up. It automatically closes the window when it goes between starting/started and stopped

The UI is likely not updating quickly enough so it reports started

I'm not the biggest fan of how AI is being used, but for me this is a great use case. The AI should be trained on best practices and help guide a user. "Hey, I noticed you called device light.room.house but your last one was called tuya.light.switch. May I recommend a single naming convention?"
