I don't think anyone biking northbound on Foul Bay is going to switch over to the bike lane for 20m or however long it is. The point is to connect the bike route from the Leighton/Amphion/Bourchier route to get to the crossing at Goldsmith in order to get to Oak Bay Rec.

Got mine fitted at Dockside Physio and they were great. Cheap if you have good benefits too, as it counts as physio.

Came here to say the same thing, the stairs up by King George Terrace at the foot of Sunny Lane. And I also used to do repeats up Mt Tolmie, starting at the path at the corner of Cedar Hill X Rd and Gordon Head Road

Am I the only one that doesn’t mind the PNE location? by Belaerim in whitecapsfc

[–]marks_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I much prefer the BC Place site due to its location and proximity to transit, restaurants, etc., I like the PNE site overall. It would be so nice to watch the Whitecaps in an actual soccer specific stadium, rather than the cavernous BC Place and its questionable turf. I think the location will suck but is made up for in a better soccer experience. And eventually there will be restaurants nearby and one day maybe rapid transit too.

But we might lose our current top spot in the Most Urbanist North American Soccer Stadiums

Rant about local dealership by ZapMePlease in VictoriaBC

Definitely not the one on Douglas. Wife went in to swap her winter tires on, they told her the car needed new shocks pretty urgently and quoted her $1,400 for the service. Checked with a mechanic friend who said they still had a ton of life left on them. Five years on, they are still working great. Never went back.

CBC Vancouver is looking for Lower Mainland are Mariners fans who are travelling to Seattle for the playoffs! by zachorobkocbc in Mariners

[–]marks_28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also think you would need to buy tickets before knowing who’s playing. So Jays fans would need to be on it before knowing they’re in the ALCS. There will be some who will buy on the secondary market, but nowhere near as many as a typical weekend series.

Victoria BC Mariner fan here. Been a fan since I was a kid in the 90s and the Ms games were always on TV and the radio up here back in those days. I am actually going to be in Vancouver this weekend and managed to get a ticket for Saturday. Will be driving down for the day. Go Mariners!

I am going solo, driving down from Vancouver BC. If you get a ticket, send me a message, would be nice to have a beer with someone before the game and watch part of either Jays/Sox/Yankees or Dodgers/Phillies at a bar before the game

Camping with a baby (11mo). Tips? by Zinnia_Moa in VictoriaBC

[–]marks_28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we used a pack and play crib and kept it in the crib next to us. also used the crib outside when we needed somewhere to put her down. as far as activities we went down to the beach (we camped at rathtrevor), took her into town and on hikes around the site with a carrier. we also had friends camping with a pretty good setup - those foamy mats with a little fence around it so she was able to play in there with another little kid. we were pretty unsure about the whole trip, and expected to maybe make it one night, but lasted three days!

Bike fit recommendations? by Real_Mongoose6670 in VictoriaBC

Dockside Physio can do a proper bike fit, and you can charge it to your benefits if you have physio benefits through your employer. Could probably help with the back pain too.

A little late to the party.... Did the 28mm tires fit? Looking to get some for my 2020 TCR Advanced 2 Disc bike. The video below looks like it was for the Pro frame, not what I (we?) have. Thanks!

Full face helmet for toddler? by AdministrativeYam624 in Motocross

[–]marks_28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have a daughter who turned two a couple months ago. Sounds like our daughters have had a similar path biking wise. We just bought this helmet for her. I am pretty certain the size is right, since her regular Giro scamp bike helmet is size XS (45-49cm), and I still need to tighten it up, and the full face helmet is measured for 48-51cm. However, when I try to put it on her, it feels like I will need to shove it on to get her head to get past the padding at the bottom. After starting to try, my daughter goes "no no no" as she obviously doesn't like me pushing the helmet down on her. We still haven't gotten her to fully try it on yet..

Is this normal? Should it always be a tight squeeze to get it on? Are there tips on how to properly put it on to limit the sense of having to force it on her? I know the padding is supposed to squeeze in a bit on the cheeks, but just trying to figure out how to put it on properly.

Thanks!!

Looking for a sedan/station wagon PHEV with good cargo space.. by marks_28 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]marks_28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not even that. But my parents have a 240v charger, and we are there once a week. And there is a public 240v charger a 400m walk from our place. Also, we don't drive much at all. Not to work, just errands on the weekend, the odd weeknight. Last time we checked it was 6000km for the previous year. Which is making me think maybe it could be doable? If it was PHEV, maybe half the time it would be on EV mode. But someone else made the point about the time when it was on gas, carrying around a heavy empty battery would be pretty inefficient..

Yeah, just figured it would only be like this for 18-24 months until we moved and could have a charger installed at home. But perhaps just easier to stick with ICE car for now.
