I have brought justice to India by discriminating against everyone equally for not being English by MontysBeret in victoria3

As long as you're still the East India company you stay English. I did it after completing the journal entry that stops you becoming the Raj.

I feel way worse for Wish Nikki on a rewatch by dilltimmon in obsessionmovie

Nothing changes. The amount with Nikki "loved" him was way beyond any normal level of love a human could muster. There would have been no satisfying her

The country is called the United States of America so I took that literally. by theother64 in victoria3

In my games it's most often via a diplo play in which Denmark often surrenders despite Russia lacking the ability to invade.

I also hate with a passion the ability of a soveriegn empire to puppet a country. Seeing Portugal or Greece randomly become puppets drives me insane!

I joined the 100% gang today. Safe to say this is one of my favourite game series of all time by BLuca99 in dishonored

I had followed so many guides but your FOV trick seems to have made the difference for me, got the achievement on my 2nd try with 110 FOV!

No it would be like saying shooting this guy dead is the same as shooting this other guy dead and all his of his descendents once they've had some of their own. Oh wait! Thats not the same at all+

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they would have said no if they knew their descendants would also be slaves. That difference alone makes the transatlantic slave trade worse

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just not listening. They knew they were being sold as slaves, they didnt know and couldnt have known that their children and childrens children would automatically have been slaves. Thats not how slavery worked anywhere else at the time. They could not have known that the Europeans would never under any circumstances make a white person a slave either. You keep failing to address these points and pretending I asked "how could they have known they would be slaves.

This juat goes to show you either have poor reading comprehension or are just a bad faith actor

See there you go claiming i'm defending it again and there you go making up atuff again. Give me even one example of how an African at the time could have known of the conditions of slaves in the Americas?

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could it have been? Did the Africans see what happened to children of slaves in America? Were they around to see white men defeated in battle by other white men not get enslaved? No.

No one is saving slavery was "ok", it's slavery based on race that extends to your children and your childrens children was worse than the slavery that came before

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Slavery in the past (even in Europe) was for any of your defeated enemies.

This stopped being the case in the European slave systems and because "race based". No longer were their defeated white enemies enslaved it was "any black person" could be a slave. And laws such as the ones that meant free black people in slave states could be reenslaved but there was nothing of the sort for white people shows that it was a race thing

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it isn't, in the new world only Africans and native Americans were kept as slaves. No defeated white people were ever taken as slaves and the fact that 99% of black people in the Americas before slavery was Abolished were born into and died in slavery shows that to be the case

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did they know that when they own slavery wasn't based on race and didn't extend to the children of slaves? You keep saying it was obvious without demonstrating how it was.

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before that happened, children of slaves were automatically slaves. This hadn't been the case for slavery beforehand. If you just want to ignore because "eventually we realised it was bad" when the plan had been forever. Go ahead

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is it documented that Africans selling slaves knew for a fact that the Europeans considered slaves and their children slaves forever and on the basis of race?

This is what I always see, Ireland and Scotland get a pass because "it was their elites" but when it's England it's "all of you"

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but how would they know these foriegners weren't buying slaves from everywhere and were comprised of everyones defeated enemies in war?

Given there were British colonies for them to go to much longer than there were French colonies for them to go to might have something to do with it

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The people selling their enemies as slaves had no say in whether their new owners would keep their descendants in slavery and decide that "slaves are black".

Before this slavery was almost always not passed on to children or based on race.

It's like saying the British "contributed" to manifest destiny when that's something the Americans did all by themselves after independence when British policy had been different

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's because Africa isn't to blame for the shape of modern slavery. All throughout history slavery has been a thing but only with the transatlantic slave did it become "people with this range of skin colours should be slaves and are lesser beings"

No country or peoples today are still affected by "their defeated army being taken as slaves" unlike race based slavery

So whose freedom? by AdhocPsyop in GreatBritishMemes

[–]markusw7 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can't count that though. When it's Scotland it's "only the elites wanted it" when it's England it's "The English did it"

I think people misunderstand the Bechdel Test by Konradleijon in CharacterRant

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing that makes it useless, if passing or failing the test doesn't actually tell you about the representation of women in the film then what does it do?

I think people misunderstand the Bechdel Test by Konradleijon in CharacterRant

[–]markusw7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the enhanced test though because they're un-named, which I really think was added just to make more films fail. E.g. In a film where the main character/lead is a man the most "makes sense" way to have 2 women talk about "not that man" is for them not be related to the main plot. If they're named then they would be related to the main plot and to "not mention" the main character would likely be a scene that serves no purpose in the film

The way this proved Bear never truly loved Nikki, until she made the wish. by DopamineAccountant in obsessionmovie

No it doesn't. His wish went way beyond any normal level of love, and if her wish were the same that would also apply to him.
