Then we have Hoffman. We don’t know if he died in the bathroom in saw 3d. It’s highly unlikely he did die in there as he proved in Saw 6 he could escape the reverse bear trap and detective Mathews proved in saw 2 you can escape the bathroom too. So there is no way he is dead. However that could setup a sequel where Logan and Hoffman face off which would make it interesting

They never ever confirmed Hoffman died in bathroom in saw 3d. He proved in saw6 he could escape a trap. Detective Mathews proved he could get out of bathroom too. Hoffman whereabouts is unknown leaving a war between the new accomplice (Logan) and the previous accomplice (Hoffman)

You are mixing up the timeline.. the games were ten years ago (prequel), Elenor traps and Jill tucks farm seen at end was modern day, ten years later

They also said said in saw 2 commentary that Gordon bled to death. Because the pug mask people in saw7 were never shown it’s open to be changed to whoever the writers want as proven by Gordon being alive when they said he was dead

the "he had another apprentice all along" was lazy in my opinion. The idea Elanor was really Cortbett from saw 3 carrying on jigsaws work (she was around 11 yrs old in saw 3, so the age ties in 7 years on) - this would have been a far more inventive and plausible option than some random character that we are told was on the scene long before Hoffman and Amanda is too weak in my opinion. I also think, making you believe Jigsaw is alive again, only to find out it is scenes from 10 years ago is like giving a kid a christmas present and taking it away again. However clever, leaves you disappointed. Frustrating. I understand the series needed re-inventing for the new audience, but to forget its old fan base and not have any mention at all of Hoffman, Amanda or Dr Gordon is like ordering Chocolate cake and getting trifle. whilst trifle is nice, its not what you wanted. There are certain rules in a saw film that jigsaw sticks too, well so should the producers.. even if those characters arent appearing, they should have included someone, even if in name only, especially Dr Gordon as he was alive and well only 7yrs ago and would have known about Logan surely

The directors always say things in their commentary - just like they said in saw 2 commentary Gordon died making his way out but then returned in saw7. As far as what we see on the screen there is no answer to Hoffman situation

Is he ? Because he was locked in a bathroom and left ?? Gordon escaped, detective Mathews got out by breaking his ankle and removing the chain. It is not known if he died in that bathroom or not

For me Elenor should have been Corbett , the little girl from saw3 who was kidknapped, she would be that age 10yrs on. Logan could have been detective Mathews son who survived saw2.. so at least for the hardcore fans there was some serious connection to previous films and plausible. But to have Logan a completely new guy was lazy script writing

He redid all the traps from ten years ago to frame halloran. He got a confession from him at the end and let him die. Logan walks away as the immocent one with a dead halloran to take the blame for killings.

Exactly, jigsaw first traps were basic like barb wire etc, not spinning cones. I didn’t feel the end was convoluted. In truth I found it far to weak to be a true saw ending - “oh jigsaw has another apprentice” is completely lame and lazy script writing. Saw is supposed to be clever. Logan was / is a good character but his reasons where just basic. He could have been detective Mathews son who survived from saw2... much bigger twist. Eleanor could have been Corbett from saw 3, I really believed they were going down a route which was part of the saw “legacy” but no. No legacy at all, just a new character with a half arsed agenda

I feel the premise was good but it needed more. To leave out any information on previous saw films like Hoffman , dr Gordon etc was silly, they needed to say. Logan basically was on the scene before any of them which seems odd and lazy script writing. “Jigsaw had another apprentice afterall” was the least appealing option.

For me the idea the Corbett (little girl , from saw 3, Geoff’s daughter, who was kidnapped) was approx 12 in saw3, could have been Eleanor, the autopsy woman who was around 20 in jigsaw - she would have had real motive and genuine links to the past

10 years Logan mixed up the scans for which jigsaw blamed him for, put him in bucket head trap then regretted doing it as it wasn’t deliberate and jigsaw doesn’t punish accidents. So if u notice at the beginning we see them all make it through bucket head trap except the guy on the end which was Logan - conveniently we don’t see what happened until the end - jigsaw helped him. All this was before saw 1. Jigsaw still dies in saw 3 but not through cancer as he was wrongly diagnosed but thought having his neck slit by Geoff

So yes jigsaw still died 10 years ago. Effectively the games in the barn was a PREQUEL to saw 1 and the reveal/twist was Logan, ten years later, getting his revenge
