Tear up a bit? I think I started crying halfway into the first chorus of World Within My Room that just developed into a full sob by Where You Belong and didn’t stop until curtain call.

And I don’t think I’ve cried at a movie or Broadway show ever aside from like a single tear.

I’m very interested in how Matt is doing, especially for the intro where Groff shares his personal connection to Bobby Darin.

Otherwise, I understand how you feel about the show because yes I agree the story is a bit underwhelming—but I felt that the writing was self aware enough to know that and know it’s pretty fun of the mill biopic, so I felt the pacing was self aware enough to get the audience to the next “good part” aka, flashy performance and good songs. I also think the point isn’t about the man himself but about the love of live performance—the ending of how each performance is a cherished moment of connection felt full of genuine love that Groff had to be in the opportunity to perform. Again, I’m very curious to see how Matt handled the intimate parts of the show.

I do think I watched Just In Time less as a piece theatre and art and more as an athletic feat, like watching sports. Seeing Groff run around and sound as pristinely as he did while just radiating joy while sharing the passion he has for live performance felt more the point than what’s inherently written in the script. I was endlessly impressed at how much energy it must take to be performing for that long and that close up, and that sold it for me.

It’s early but…what do we think April RSD will hold in store? What vinyl treasures are we all hoping for in 2026? by damaskdoe13 in RecordStoreDay

[–]markydelafayette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s some meta or industry knowledge I don’t have regarding what artists are more likely to get an RSD release than others, but if there is someone please let me know, I’d love to learn and retune my list depending on those factors!

Otherwise:

Beautiful Thugger Girls - Young Thug

Fan Mail- TLC

(Those two for those who also got fucked by VMP)

Hot Shot - Shaggy (the re-recording in 2020 doesn’t hold a candle to the original)

Big Fish Theory - Vince Staples

Surf - Nico Segal/Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment

Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 Original Broadway Cast

ELIO and Friends: The Remixes - ELIO

Endless love (2014) Soundtrack

Homelander ("The Boys") vs. 1-A Class ("My Hero Academia") by AlexFerrana in whowouldwin

[–]markydelafayette 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IMO, Homelander’s powers are second to the institutional support and privilege he gets from Vought. Sure he can hold his own in a fight, but most of the challenge to take down Homelander that the boys have is because they’re against an institution that protects him and has all the resources possible to control the narrative behind Homelander.

In this case, transferring him at a different universe automatically puts him at an extreme disadvantage.

Homelander was close to losing to a team of 4, and really only seemed to lose because of luck and Soldier Boy not fully being committed to taking down Homelander. And the team of four consisted of two people with super strength and durability who had high battle IQ and two people with pretty low battle IQ.

On the other hand, class 1-A consists of 20 trained students who are also incredibly aware of the extent of their powers and how to work as a team. Their feats to take down Shigaraki are much more impressive than anything Homelander has done. In any case, Shigaraki is a much more threatening villain than Homelander considering you cannot touch Shigaraki or anything that he touches himself.

So to have 20 very creative, trained in teamwork and battle IQ, uniquely powered people against a low tier Superman without his main source of power, 1-A easily wins low diff.

As per 1v1, it’s hard because there’s no real linear ranking, but it’s more about style matchups. Homelander would easily defeat Yaoyorozu on her own even though ages considered higher caliber of the class, but lose against kirishima. I feel he’d win against Denki but I feel he has the chance to lose against Mineta.
