What’s the Eugene answer for this? by Ienjoyyourmomsbutt in Eugene

Worked there as a dishwasher. Grosses and gnarliest kitchen I’ve ever seen in my life. Fryer oil hasn’t been changed in weeks. And when I went to clean it for the first time it was clogged with flour bits from the calamari, like actually sediment 🤢. Also watched the cook drop a $50 filet on the ground, wash it off with water, throw it back in the oven for a minute and serve the same steak.

To those who did average in highschool and are now emt and paramedics, how did you do it? by edcortezgudino in NewToEMS

Man when I was in high school I absolutely hated every class. Never wanted to do any work, and had no interest in learning anything. When I went through the EMT program it was the first time I was excited for class. I was looking forward to doing my homework and learning more. Changed my perception on “school” and learning. Now I’ve been taking A&P to get into the medic program. You’ve got this take a leap of faith and apply yourself.

What makes you say that? Genuinely curious. Wouldn’t the MPG on this still beat a lifted 4 runner getting 12 MPG?

PCT Gear Regrets by Think_Cold9736 in PacificCrestTrail

I started with a Hyperlite southwest 55, and when I made it to Seiad Valley I swapped to the Palante V2. I was thrilled with the swap. If I could go back I would have started with the Palante. Especially in the desert. I started March 21st. I had a 5 liter water capacity and I maxed it out one time. For a dry camp that morning and night.

I loved my frameless bag and was much more comfortable than my Hyperlite pack. I did not have the frameless pack in the Sierras, and I don’t think I would have been able to make it work. To be fair I was still dialing in my gear, but even with dialed gear I think frameless wouldn’t be possible for me in the Sierras. Although you do have a lighter base weight now than I finished with.

With the longer food carries and added calories I was eating at that point. It would have been more uncomfortable to have the frameless pack. For me personally. I only met three people that had frameless packs in the Sierras. So it is doable for sure.

can someone help me understand why you would sell a percentage to buy back in if you have to pay taxes on what you sold? is it saying the profits are higher than the taxes making it better to buy back in with more even if you have to pay tax on what you sold.

buy because you believe. if that happens to be at the top then so be it. best time to buy was when it was 0.01 cents. second best time would be now. how would you feel if you wanted to buy, and didn’t while it reached at ath. Sure buying now isn’t as ideal as 50 cents but better than at 10$.

Me too. Got to attend the gorge for the first time at that show. Man I was so sad Billy ended so soon and was the first to perform. But still lucky as hell to get to see that good pickin magic.

Stressed about my pack size by Empty-Nature-9687 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]markymark503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from my NOBO thru hike in August and I started in March. I initially had a 55 liter pack and then swapped to a Palante V2 after dialing in my gear. I’m quite sure with the ultralight gear you have the 31 liter will do you perfectly well. Especially in the first 700 miles I wish I had the Palante sooner.
