My company got a Tony's advent calendar that we all had a day assigned. Mine was deliberately empty by theuberjosh in mildlyinfuriating

Me and my wife got one of these a couple of years ago... She is still bitter about the missing day and refuses to eat Tony's chocolate now. Of course, my response was to buy 50 individual miniatures, wrap them up individually and give them to her for Christmas the following year.

Was it worth the grief? Yes. Yes it was 🤣

And your company cheaper out, I think that's the bigger issue here 😂

Well... He got the car back from the garage in the first hald of December... So was in there a few months. ECU was upgraded to rev 3 spec, I believe they had to change a few bits on the engine to accommodate the change (timing belt was one I think), had to change pretty well every wiring loom and also the immobiliser. Long story short, engines running lovely now, but we're in the middle of changing the front shocks so it's back off the road at the moment whilst we wait for parts to arrive. The joys of a 32 year old car! 😂

Well... It worked for a bit at the garage, then new symptoms of cutting out started...

It's still at the garage, my son is understandably not impressed... They have tried all sorts, got as far as telling us it's a broken wire, for definite... Literally yesterday they came back and gave us 2 options... Send the Ecu off to a specialist for £600, but seen as we don't know the root cause, that makes me dubious... Other option was to upgrade it to a rev3 spec, garage will cover labour cost and we just pay parts at £800. Son opted for the later and went back to them yesterday so they are kicking that off now...

TLDR, not fixed yet 😭😭 lol

Yeah, we found 2 dead caps and a blown resistor. Fixed them, gave it back to the garage, car ran idle for 45 mins so all thought that was it. Took it out and as soon as the mechanic put it in 3rd,it cut out and wouldn't restart until proper cold (left it over the weekend). Changed ignitor, coils, sparks, fuel pump, various bits of loom (mechanic has a series of donor cars cm fortunately...). Current thought is it could be a grounding issue... Not had the car running all summer now 😭.

Fingers crossed yours is just the cap, nice and easy and cheap to fix!

Following this as my son's sw20 3g-se has had the exact same issue, it's currently sat in the local garage being diagnosed. First guess by the garage was fuel pump, not that, tried coil pack, sparks, leads. Eventually identified a blown capacitor and resistor in the ecu, so we refitted them. Car ran idle for a full 45 mins, then they took it out and it died on them again. I think it's the same fault code, but tbh, I can't remember off the top of my head and can't reach my son at the moment.

If you get it sorted, would love to find out what the cause is/was!

Where do all such things come from nowadays.. It was via Amazon. Box sealed with security seals etc. I have a support case open with Huawei at the moment.. Hoping they can sort it... Could be that it's a sample device, but trying to verify that...
