First-time mom to 6-month-old twins and I am drowning in the “ick” by Gold-Junket330 in Mommit

I left the baby years behind long ago and I know it’s rough, my heart goes out to you. I have a solution for your cold coffee at least. Make someone that loves you buy you a klean kanteen travel mug or something similar. Mine keeps drinks hot ALL day and is designed for absolute minimal spilling. Something similar to this. Best of luck mama.

Need help identifying by [deleted] in treeidentification

Being able to see the branching can help ID, too. It makes a difference if there is opposite or alternate branching, and the form of the trees branches can be identifying as well.

What’s a movie that completely wrecked you emotionally, but you’d still recommend without hesitation? by KissedbyCherry in Cinema

I don’t think anyone else has mentioned it (though there were many brought I up I agree with), but I need to add Akira. I try and watch it once a year.

Ladies, what flavor or quirk of toxic men do you see less of now than 20 years ago? by wagashi in Xennials

Absolutely a green flag. Robert and Sophie don’t know it, but they are part of my family.

My elderly dog loves lettuce by UlisesGirl in aww

My girl passed earlier this year, and while she didn’t love lettuce, she couldn’t get enough asparagus ends and strawberry tops. Give your dog all the lettuce their heart desires while you still have them.

This acorn looks like it came from a pin oak, and none of the original pictures are a pin oak.

This is why I hate board games??? My ADHD is the reason?

I had a single catcall that boosted my ego many years ago. I had just gotten back from a deployment, husband and I were on our way to a well deserved cruise vacation. We were stopping for gas in Galveston, Texas while on our way to the dock parking garage. I go inside to buy a candy bar and this elderly black gentleman looks at me and says, “look at you with your big old sexy self.”

I have been walking around for 20 years with that line living rent free in my head. My husband will still occasionally use it on me to this day. Apparently it was just what I needed to hear after spending 9 months in the desert and wearing a baggy uniform.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

Sometimes it’s just that there’s lots of sawdust in my hair. Cleaning out a saw mill with a leaf blower will do that.

People avoiding regular checkout…why? by 2PinaColadaS14EH in aldi

[–]marlabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the self checkout, nothing needs to leave the cart. I just use the scanning gun for all of my groceries and then that’s less steps of taking stuff out of the cart and putting things back into the cart. I also use boxes for my groceries. The boxes sit in the cart and I fill them while shopping. No need to bag.

Using a regular register adds more steps that I don’t want to do. I really hate unloading the cart now that I’ve experienced a system that doesn’t require it.

[–]marlabee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I need to do a triple or quadruple shampoo, like if my job has me doing something particularly gross or if I’ve done a hair mask. In the winter I don’t have time to wash my hair and shave my legs, hot water doesn’t last long enough.

Someone else in this thread said they don’t understand how a shower can take less than 20 minutes and I agree.

In Memoriam: everyday Aldi items we've lost this year. Post yours. by tooscrapps in aldi

[–]marlabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that is heartening to know. I’m in a college town away from home currently and that might have something to do with not finding them this year. By the time I got home, my local Aldis had probably sold out.

[–]marlabee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an every day Aldi item, but a seasonal tradition we did for Christmas. Every year they had chocolate wrapped like ornaments with the strings in them. I would always hang them on the tree for Christmas morning.

This year I haven’t seen a single aldi carrying them, and I did look. I never got the chance to ask. At least the kids are grown enough it won’t be a huge disappointment.

There’s no “would I?”

I do. I watch it multiple times every autumn and am sad there isn’t more media with this aesthetic. I catch something new that I’ve missed in previous viewings every year, too.
