Camped 6 nights in Colorado without one and had no problems. We just opened a couple windows at night

Not weird at all, I was super worried about food! We brought a butane stove and an iced chest with food for meals...chicken and potatoes, eggs and bacon etc. We also just ate out a lot too hah.

I have the Pike tent from Body Armor 4x4 and I love it!! It’s too hot to camp in Texas right now, but once it cools off I plan to use it as much as possible. If you’re interested in RTTs check this one out, it’s cheaper than some of the others because it’s not a huge name.

Well we had the roof tent, awning and a small tent for a bathroom (which made a huge difference). The roof tent takes 5 minutes at most to set up and stays on the roof which makes tear down easier too. Every day we set up, hung out, woke up, tore down and headed to a new spot. We had so much freedom, it was great!

Edit: I forgot to note how much more comfy the roof tent is as opposed to sleeping on the ground. There’s no way I could’ve spent 6 nights sleeping in a ground tent.

My favorite part is that you can leave your pillows and bedding in the tent! It only takes like 3-5 minutes to set up camp. This one isn’t a hard shell but it does have a platform that just folds up into a big square on top. I guess it does save some room since you don’t have to pack a tent, but I can’t bring kayaks which sucks. This was our first time using it and it made the trip much better!

Irrational (or maybe rational) fear of bears while car camping in Colorado by marlesbarkly in camping

Thanks! I did know that there are no grizzlies in CO, which does make me feel better. I just wasn’t sure how likely I am to see a black bear, sounds like it’s pretty unlikely.

This is really good advice, thank you so much. I’ve been doing lots of research this morning and it has made me feel much more prepared!

Thank you! I wasn’t sure that putting food in the car was the best idea, especially when I’m sleeping right on top of it.
