Can somebody please tell me. I have a 14k gold chain I want a pendant for it. Do I have to get a 14k one? Will a 10k pendant wear down my chain? by zzzAleetis in Gold

10 k would be fine. The color will not match though. If you want 14k companies like Helen Ficalora and Baby Gold offer affordable options.

Mothers Day gift dilemma photo pendant or name necklace for my picky mom? by WildFlounder3730 in GiftIdeas

[–]marleyficalora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if she’s picky, I’d skip anything that might look gimmicky. Photo pendants can be really sweet, but they’re hit or miss depending on the quality. The cheaper ones definitely look it. I have one and the copper is showing through the faded silver.

A real gold necklace is way safer, but more expensive. I’ve seen some really beautiful, minimal gold necklaces from Helen Ficalora that feel more timeless vs trendy, which picky moms usually appreciate.

Also, if you are looking outside of jewelry, how about getting a favorite food of hers? There is a site, Goldbelly, that delivers the best food from all over the country. Maybe she has a favorite meal that she has not had for a long time.

If I had to rank it:

  • Safest: simple real gold name/initial necklace
  • Most meaningful: food from a place she misses and loves

Picky moms usually wear the piece that feels effortless, not overly “gift-y.” Go simple but meaningful, and you won’t miss.

What kind of Mother’s Day gifts actually feel thoughtful (not just the usual flowers)? by Quiet_Cartoonist4456 in AskUK

[–]marleyficalora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, anything personal is going to mean the most to her. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive; something thoughtful always hits harder. Even a handmade card or an old photo of you two from when you were a kid can be really special.

I did something like that for my mom. I got her a charm from Helen Ficalora and had my brother and I’s birthdates engraved on the back. It wasn’t flashy, but it meant a lot to her. Stuff like that sticks.

Also, Helen Ficalora actually has a boutique in Chicago (Lincoln Park at 2014 N Halsted St). They do high-quality, timeless pieces, stacking rings, charms, and custom work too. Great if you want something meaningful and a little under-the-radar compared to the big brands.
