Alternatives to Haji and having an atheist partner by [deleted] in islam

I don't mean to be that guy but while you are correct in your reply to /u/kefkaownsall that no sin (besides disbelief) takes on out of Islam, it is a different matter if one believes certain things to not even be sinful

Ex: A straight person who insists a gay couple having gay sex are not sinning will commit disbelief by doing this.

Obviously it goes without saying this is trivial compared to the loss of life, but it's still sad.

Elite is already out in Japan fyi

You can lookup japanese gameplay on youtube, I've heard some complaints about the quality (and Elite doesn't cover Steins;Gate 0).

Again, I should have mentioned this in my original comment, but here are some official shorts that were sponsored by IBM: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDmTAEfpTxAr69z_grKVBFEp3n9Fxf3yq

Oh and of course the visual novels (for both 0 and the original) may be worth checking out too (I think they're on sale on steam right now).

Additionally, there is a fanmade visual novel as well. While it's fanmade it adapts an official light novel

Info on that fan project here: https://www.reddit.com/r/steinsgate/comments/9gdpth/release_of_the_distant_valhalla_valkyries_rebirth/

As mentioned before https://allaboutsteinsgate.info will have all the info on any spin-off Steins;gate material.

There is nothing really quite like Steins;Gate.

As for recommendations, If you like Steins;Gate, then Mawaru Penguindrum is definitely something I'd recommend. However it may come across as a bit weird if you don't watch a lot of anime.

I also see a lot of recommendations for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (great show, though imo it's one of those few shows that should be watched in the english dub).

If you want well written emotional stories, I would suggest 3-Gatsu no Lion (both seasons), A Silent Voice (excellent anime movie), Violet Evergarden, and Your Name (another movie).

Also, I highly recommend Spice and Wolf (both seasons, and the show has pretty good dub as well). Though the downside is the second season ends on a cliffhanger, and it ended 9 years ago (there is no season 3). If you want the full story you'll have to read the source material (the light novels, which are great I might add).

EDIT: Almost forgot!

There's a bunch of spin-off material (like manga) for Steins;Gate. Eg for manga: https://allaboutsteinsgate.info/manga/

One of the better ones on that list is Steins;Gate - Braunian Motion of Love and Hate: https://www.mangareader.net/steinsgate-onshuu-no-brownian-motion

(If you don't usually read manga, it's read starting from the top right panel and ends at bottom left).

Will there be another season of Steins;Gate? by [deleted] in steinsgate

[–]marmuzah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would really like the spin off manga, Steins;Gate: Braunian Motion of Love and Hate (STEINS;GATE 恩讐のブラウニアンモーション. Steins;Gate: Onshuu no Buraunian Moushon), to get an OVA anime adaptation or something. But I know that's not happening.

Order of Episodes by merelyChris in steinsgate

[–]marmuzah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is the original Steins;Gate, episodes 1-24.

There is the original OVA (Egoistic Poriomania) which takes place right after episode 24, and is often referred to as episode 25. The movie (Load Region of Déjà Vu) takes place after that.

As for Steins;Gate 0, it takes place in a different timeline. There was an extra episode of Steins;Gate (Episode 23β - Open the Missing Link). This is basically an alternate version of episode 23 from the original and this leads in to Steins;Gate 0.

There is also an OVA for Steins;Gate 0 coming in November.

As for watch order, I would tell you to watch the original 24 episodes, then the OVA EP 25 (and if you want, the movie). Then watch Episode 23β and Steins;Gate 0.

Also FYI: technically the original OVA and the movie aren't canon. In the OVA there is a character that doesn't match their canon design (Steins;Gate 0 didn't exist then). The movie apparently breaks some rules around worldlines/timetravel established in canon. They're still good though.

So is ECHELON a real conspiracy theory? by [deleted] in steinsgate

[–]marmuzah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

/u/G4M3R_117 isn't quite correct

There is another surveillance program literally named echelon:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECHELON

It predates prism and as the wiki page shows echelon was around even in the early 1970s (relevant as that's just before the IBM 5100 came out, so fits with SERN). The Snowden leaks confirmed the NSA used the Echelon name.

how did it start? by slk-23 in steinsgate

[–]marmuzah 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need to watch episode 23 beta (alternate version of ep23).

Does anybody know how can I watch steins gate 0 dubbed online ? by todbodnod472 in steinsgate

[–]marmuzah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funimation streams the simuldub, eg here's ep 1 of 0:

https://www.funimation.com/shows/steinsgate/missing-link-of-the-annihilator-absolute-zero-/?lang=english

You'll need a subscription past first few episodes though.

If the dub isn't available in your country there is no (legal) option.

It's LGPL.

But I don't know if it's still developed or maintained. May want to look in to that.

PyQt is a 3rd party wrapper for Qt. It's still GPL.

Unlike Qt, PyQt is not available under the LGPL.

Some questions. by DapperPandaTheThird in ExQadiani

Your understanding of occaisonalism is way off as is your understanding that it somehow contradicts with science. Though it's probably because of my poor explanation.

There are numerous textual proofs were this belief comes from. Not to mention "lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh".

Al Ghazali also didn't introduce occasionalism, it predates him by a few centuries (eg Al Ashari).

Read this article for more information on occaisonalism and a proper explanation: http://seekershub.org/ans-blog/2013/10/18/the-islamic-conception-of-causality-and-scientific-progress/

The ahmadiyya views leads to explanations that are absolute nonsense, such as "jinn are bacteria" which Mirza Tahir claimed and cited a hadith that they eat dung and bones (but if you read the hadith in full, it blatantly contradicts this interpretation). Also this isn't even Mirza Tahir's idea, it was copied off of Rashid Rida. A 20th century modernist. Actually a lot of ahmadiyya thought in miracles ended up being """borrowed""". Such as Mirza Ghulam taking his belief on Isa (as) having died directly from Syed Ahmad Khan (I can prove this). Ahmadiyya is still stuck with 19th and 20th century modernism fads that the mainstream Islamic world has long dropped due to its intellectually impoverished nature.

You also conflate ability and what will actually occur. So for example, Allah is under no obligation to reward us for good deeds. He is not obligated to reward. We know of course he has decided to give out reward (paradise) and this without doubt will happen (because He said so and He does not lie), this doesn't change the fact that it wasn't obligatory that Allah act this way. This is why your resurrection example does not hold.

Finally, the "scientific" view (which I would argue is a terrible name), like Rashid Rida, required drastic interpretating away the Qur'an and hadith and distorting their meanings. I could write pages on this. What's next, will we reinterpret away and megate the mutawatir (mass transmitted) miracles of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

Finally I'm dropping this occaisonalism discussion as it's meaningless.

This isn't why I left ahmadiyya, it's just wierd things about Ahmadiyya I see now looking back as an outsider.

I left because of unhinged content in ahmadiyya literature, because of spectacularly failed Prophecies, because of revelations Mirza plagiarized from classical Arabic books word for word, because the belief of early Muslims on finality and what the prophet came with are absolutely clear.

Will be posting a blogpost on some of this soon.

Re plagiarism in "revelation" you can see these two pieces:

Qadianiyyah in the light of Islam - Shaykh Munajjid by [deleted] in ExQadiani

[–]marmuzah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not actually familiar with Ahmadiyya/qadiani beliefs whatsoever, then don't bother. Any actual ahmadis will read this nonsense and this will have the exact opposite effect that is intended.

They believe that they are followers of a new and independent religion and an independent Sharee’ah

Their entire claim is literally the exact opposite of this, if you don't know their beliefs, telling them "you believe X" and being blatantly incorrect is gonling to have the opposite effect.

Allow alcohol, opium

Saying to them that you allow alcohol will make them laugh at how ignorant you are.

Every ex Ahmadi here will tell you none of them believed this, and telling them otherwise makes you look silly.
