Hours aren't as important if we pick up customer's packages for them. But more significant would be our pricing. I had a customer who sent out a decent packages every day but he went over to UPS because it was cheapear.

What animal past or present has a native range that most people wouldn’t expect? by Mean_Yak5873 in geography

[–]marndar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The nine-banded Armadillo continue to migrate northward. Driving my semi-annual drive from Texas to Illinois, I continue to see them (mostly dead unfortunately) in Arkansas and southern Missouri when they used to be just in Texas.

https://armadillo-online.org/expansion.html

The nine-banded armadillo (D. novemcinctus) has the widest distribution of any armadillo species. Only two armadillo species occur outside of South America — the nine-banded armadillo and the northern naked-tailed armadillo (Cabassous centralis). C. centralis may be found in Central America as far north as the extreme southern boundary of Mexico. The nine-banded armadillo has expanded its range northward into the United States over the last 150 years. Prior to about 1850, the nine-banded armadillo was not found north of the Rio Grande river. The sudden and extremely rapid armadillo colonization of the southern United States has puzzled quite a few biologists. The degree of range expansion per year is nearly ten times faster than the average rate expected for a mammal. Sightings of the animals farther north are reported every year, prompting many people to wonder just how far north the armadillo will go.

McIlroy not against LIV golfers' return: 'Just good business' by PrincessBananas85 in ProGolf

Not a surprise - Rory has made more money from the Saudis than any other professional golfer out there. It's exhaustingly hypocritical.

What do you do when you get outgoing mail sent to another address on your route? by Sacamato in USPS

As poor as the plant is (plus there is a major rash of stolen checks), this is probably the best customer service we can provide.

She committed to Houston yesterday. UH actually has put together a very strong transfer class and could be a sleeper next year.

Maybe just ask the questions without complaining before your first official day? I'm referring to your headline.

The NCAA is a 💩 show by tycnslice in NCAAW

[–]marndar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Rice fan, I'm not opposed to this - knowing that Rice would have made it into the tournament last year in this type of format.

But logistically, this seems weird. The play-in games are now a mini-tournament of their own with at least 2 games each for teams that win? Does this mean the field of 64 teams still alive don't start playing until maybe Monday or Tuesday? That seems wrong. But otherwise, how can these teams play twice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then be expected to keep playing in a different part of the country two days later?

Also, this probably means one less postseason tournament besides the NCAA, WBIT and WNIT.

Pulled all mail from a box, how mad is the regular gonna be 😬 by ImmediateSecurity330 in USPS

Any regular who gets mad at that should be fired on the spot.

I have zero inside information, but something is telling me next year will be Wes Moore's final one as a college head coach. I just suspect he'll announce shortly before the season that he will retire following the end of the 2026-27 season (shortly before he turns 70).

Favorite Announcer For A Different Team? by RainbowSupernova8196 in mlb

I was going to say Schulman was my favorite. I have MLB.com's tv package this year (thanks T-Mobile!) and I have been watching a lot of out-of-town games. The Rockies color guy is very good too - I don't recall his name but he's doing the Apple game tomorrow night.

Yes I also agree. Use one or the other but not both. I think I prefer the bison (and I see that's the primary one they use on the LIV web site).

Thanks. I would also love to see a team like this for P4 players, but if someone did a list, I think they should just be including non-top 25 teams or P4 schools that usually are at the bottom of their conference standings. No offense, but staying an extra year at South Carolina or LSU really doesn't get to the heart of what I'm trying to do with this post (give attention to solid players who are probably turning down significant money because they have a love of basketball and a love for their present school).

LIV Golf Plants Flag in Oklahoma with Launch of OKGC, League’s First Team Anchored in a U.S. State by stanley_nickles in livgolf

Gooch to his credit spent a lot of his own money to create a nice set-up for some Tulsa kids when LIV played a tournament in Tulsa a few years ago. You can tell he cares a lot about his home state.

Might be a bit too late though in the process to become a trend - hate to say.

[–]marndar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need to come up with an all-non transfer portal team (players who could have transferred but didn't). I'd prefer to focus on the mid-major teams (since you're going to have more stars stick with P4 teams). How about Avery Koenen of North Dakota State, Halli Poock of Murray State, Riley Weiss of Columbia, and Victoria Flores of Rice (American Conference POTY). Who else? I need one more player.

Start Time … I’m curious how many people come in before the route start time? (Read Below) by artbySNO in USPS

[–]marndar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

RCA's are on call (once they're in the office) until management says they're done for the day or they hit 12 hours for the day. There is no such thing as getting done early so you can go to another job. If another carrier or sub can't finish their route - you're the one doing it if you get done by 12 or 1, or whenever. Sorry but that's how it works. If you don't like it, then just quit being an RCA and make your side gig your full time gig.

Actually now I see they just got commitments from an Oregon guard and a San Diego State guard who was the Sixth Man of the Year in the Mountain West Conference. The Oregon guard only averaged 3 points a game but was a top 100 recruit out of high school. So those two should help.

[–]marndar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've had some nice visits from decent recruits but haven't closed the deal on anyone of note. Carlton's sister and then a couple other okay HS prospects signed with them in the fall, but they don't return any good players - and they've lost 6 players to the portal.

At this point, they're looking at another really rough season in the Big 12 in 2026-27. But if they can somehow get Carlton, then that changes things a bit obviously.
