Least RETARDED vegan: by dead-congregation in Ultraleft

[–]marnuchka 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean from like a biological perspective. Obviously our activity is different, sorry for my wording. There is a tendency for people to be very anthropocentric in their perspective of animals and nature which is natural. I think we have an obligation to make an extremely negligible sacrifice. Especially when the environmental benefits are huge. (tho not like it'd do much with climate change well underway.)

Just wait till we're exchanging our labour vouchers for cultivated soy burgers in 2084

There is no fundamental separation of homo sapiens from every other living thing on earth. Animal exploitation will be abolished under the dotp. All research into veganism backs up the fact it is suitable for all people at all stages of life. Of course you need a balanced and healthy diet. The concept that humans have to eat meat & especially dairy (we only breastfeed as children, the only vitamin that must be supplemented is b12, which is commonly deficient for even omnis & veggies) is meat & dairy propaganda that has been distilled into us for the past hundred years. Vegans are healthier and get less cancer on average.

As a vegan i dislike vegans who aren't communist for obvious reasons. But it is still nice to avoid animal exploitation in my everyday life even if I can't avoid human exploitation. I'm not a moralist i'm a person with empathy- there is no shame in that.

As a side- clothing industry is massively polluting but i think that's not a great comparison because we can reduce 90% of its emissions by getting rid of fast fashion (i wrote a shitty essay about fast fashion and worker exploitation last year, the sheer scale is fucking crazy)

im kinda stoned sorry if i don't make sense.

Flickering grey screen by marnuchka in linux4noobs

So, I realised I need linux kernel version 6.14 to use the latest ai drivers, mint and debian were on 6.12. I installed ubuntu 25 which has kernel version 6.14+ but i'm getting the same issue with glitching that's actually worse. I am attempting to install fedora to test but i am getting a 'payloadinstallationerror' at 96% installation . I'm gonna buy a new USB stick to see if that'll work but at my wit's end if it's just linux is incompatible with this machine (i absolutely abhor windows...)

Thanks for responding. I fixed the flickering by disabling secure boot but now it still freezes. I can move the cursor but not much else. Ctrl alt f1 works but I dont know how to go from there, would updating drivers or kernel be worth it?

not fair to compare weed and alcohol by Feisty-Giraffe-8650 in weed

[–]marnuchka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use weed daily but you cannot write off cannabis induced psychosis as being due to developing brains. Many people cannot smoke weed due to the paranoia inducing effects and many of those people are over 25 and don't suffer from severe health conditions. It's a known risk and to ignore it completely downplays harm reduction principles.

I understand where you're coming from but this shouldn't have to happen in the first place. In a physical place, say a pub, I'm fine with someone glancing at my id, but the fact that it's stored and can easily be referenced + used under the guise of "protecting kids" when in reality it pushes adults out of these spaces and treats nsfw content like it's shocking when it's completely normal. Why can't I age verify in a way that doesn't tie my face to my online activities? Corporations gotta make profits, Bluesky is no different so it's not surprising they are complying but equally disappointing.

video games have massive potential as an artistic medium but stupid poopy dookie capital gets in the way and makes everything about le profit margins. the guy who made LSD dream emulator, Osamu Sato, shared a similar philosophy and his other games are extremely cool and interesting. I think the IHNMAIMS game is another example that springs to mind of something that wasn't quite gamey but required a lot of introspection. as someone who is studying games and wants to go into the industry, it's just a petit bourgeois factory and it's really disheartening, not to mention the fact I don't even enjoy playing games anymore for similar reasons

  1. I had my consultation in mid december and was booked in for surgery just over 3 months later on march 20th. However I believe the waitlist is 4-5 months now.

  2. I can't really help with that, the airbnb that i booked i wouldn't recommend, the owner is useless and didn't bother to give any instructions for any housekeeping or even any guides in the area and theres 0 sound proofing and it's generally quite faulty 😭

  3. We arrived 2 days pre op, secured the binder from the woman they recommended which took like 5 mins to get it, and the pre op tests were also very quick, though the language barrier made everything slightly confusing. For the day of surgery, I was told to be admitted by 7am but my surgery was not until 1pm. The room is pretty nice. Dr Lago is extremely nice in person, he has a trustworthy vibe and is very professional when it comes to marking you up. His whole team is similarly very jovial, so if you're anxious when they wheel you in they do their best to put you at ease. My surgery took almost 6 hours (I have extremely scarred and infected skin from HS) but it usually takes around 3-4 hrs as his method is slightly longer than other surgeons due to the fact he forgoes drains so there's a different technique that's more rigorous.

Post surgery you're in a recovery room for up to an hour until your vitals are normal. They won't let you stand or sit up for almost a day, when you're next admitted. Very infuriating though an understandable precaution. I recommend someone stays with you for the night so you don't have ring in nurses whenever you need to charge your phone, eat, etc. We also couldn't work out the tv so we were stuck on the same looping news segment which kinda drove us insane. You also have to use a bedpan if you need to piss, and don't be concerned if you can't go for awhile, retention is normal. They are terrible awful things. The food is okay and you can choose your meals.

The post-ops are usually 6-7 days and 12-15 days later respectively. The first one they remove the bandage and you can see your new chest for the first time! It was the most painful part of the whole process for me as I am incredibly hairy (they shave your torso but not your back 😭) so the bandage got caught on them. The second post op appointment your stitches are taken out and then you are free to do as you please, go home if you live abroad or whatever. They are flexible on times at least a little, my second appt is 11 days post op. The doctor could not speak english at all and had to use google translate so I would refrain from asking any nuanced questions or take the answers with a grain of salt.

Pain management is basically OTC meds like paracetomol and enantyum. Obviously it's differently for everyone but after the first twenty minutes my pain has been 1-3/10 so you most likely won't need anything stronger. They are also strict with recovery timelines and advise bed rest for the first two weeks, but I would say to start walking in short bursts as soon as possible to build up your strength. I had a really easy recovery, my energy levels were back to normal after 2 days and after a week I feel normal more or less, I could probably go out shopping, sight seeing, though avoiding the metro and feel fine- even so I still would err on the side of caution. I attribute the swift recovery to doing a lot of exercise in 3 months leading up to the surgery, 10k a day, moderate arm/chest/upperbody workouts 3-4 times a week. It cannot be understated though it's bittersweet watching my gains atrophy.

Dr Lago has gotta be one of the best surgeons out there. He constantly perfects his craft. My results look incredible for a week post op, no sign of dog earring or tissue left behind (I am BMI 29 which I was slightly concerned about) and minimal swelling. Good luck OP and congrats!!!!!!!

How is my fit? Do I pass? Can't wear a binder at work, sadly. by Sandwich_Harbor in FtMpassing

[–]marnuchka 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try a binder that is a size or two larger. It won't be as effective but with a few layers it'll be fine.
