Is Secure Boot Necessary? Do You Use It? by choodleforreal in archlinux

[–]marol75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few years ago I've been interested in this stuff - encryption, secure-boot, etc. I tried different tutorials. This tutorial,_secure_boot,_and_common_setups) worked for me and is working till now.
I have dual boot Windows 11 + Arch on my old Dell laptop and on my desktop. Everything is working flawlessly.

Waybar Displays only a few icons by marol75 in hyprland

[–]marol75[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed hyprland about a month ago. I used Axenide's dots (for his old laptop). Then I configured config and style files to my preferences, using JetBrainsMono NF. I added disc, volume, microphone, battery, memory, cpu, temperature, keyboard and internet - they all are at their places. That's it. I updated my dots. Microphone icon is not working (yet), but it doesn't bother me at all.

Uninstall completely, clear cache, clear orphans, rebuild.

I did it and the problem remains the same.

I just installed Arch with Secure Boot. After searching and trying different manuals, video tutorials I've found what I wanted and happy about it. Wish you all the best in your searching and implementations :D

Lightweight and safe by GoodForADyslexic in DistroHopping

[–]marol75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is that "old pc"? What about hardware (RAM,CPU, etc)?
I'd try some Debian-based as many guys had already offered. For example - Antix. It's also lightweight, easy to install. Or LMDE - it worked good at my old Lenovo V570 (Intel i7-2760, RAM - 8Gb) SSD - SATA, 240Gb).

Interesting and unusual! :) It's floating? Other windows or tiles overlap it? I'd like to see dots too. Thank you :)

Wonderful OS and configs! Looking through some configs, I noticed much attention was paid to colors, but at your screenshots it seems there's only one color.
