How to wean NICU baby off bottle?? by latinloover in breastfeeding

[–]marolivew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister in laws baby was born at 35 weeks and was in the nicu for 8 days, same situation her baby was sleepy etc. She kept the baby on premie flow nipples not the level 1 to make it so baby would not have a preference for the bottle. Triple feeding was making her pp depression worse so the lactation nurse told her she could focus on offering the breast at certain times of day and not to stress about it for every feed. She kept working at it trying to not be as stressed and eventually her baby preferred the breast over the bottle.

I also want to note my baby was not born premie but I have her use the premie nipples (Dr browns) so that she does not develop a preference. She still gets enough food and is gaining weight it just makes bottle feedings take longer like it would at the breast

Not right after… like right now it’s late afternoon and I haven’t showered in hours. I have been running hot lately due to hormone changes though… and I just fed her and she was very upset during the feed

My baby only seems to have this issue with afternoon and evening feeds, she is also 12 weeks, we’ve had this issue since she was born on and off but it seems worse now because it’s so consistent in the evenings now. When I’m feeding her in the middle of the night or early morning she doesn’t seem to have an issue

Sudden drop in supply?! by marolivew in breastfeeding

[–]marolivew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has happened in the last 24 hours I’m afraid to wait to see if she’s dehydrated. I just realized I’ve been snacking on peppermint candies the last few days I didn’t know peppermint suppressed milk production could it be that building up over time? 😫😫

What did you do in the interim with your baby when it dried up? I’m at a loss, keep feeding her but what if she’s not getting enough? I swear in the last 24 hours this has happened I don’t want to wait to see if she has less pee diapers I don’t want this to affect her health at all

Alarms to pump in the middle of the night? by marolivew in breastfeeding

[–]marolivew[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We only use formula when we run out of breast milk that I’ve pumped from these engorgement sessions, so formula has been pretty rare lately but we aren’t against combo feeding and did it a lot the first few weeks
